That you can also have a great career even if you don't win Holland's Next Topmodel is shown by Debbie Dhillon. She left for India and scores cover after cover there. Vogue, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar, name it and Debbie has done it. For Amayzine, she keeps a diary.
While grocery shopping, I came across two models from my agency. We had lunch together and drank a typical Indian sweet yogurt/milk shake at the market. It was a really cool and sweet drink, so very welcome in this warm and stuffy weather. One of the models is Indian, so she also quickly gave me a crash course in shopping at the market without getting scammed. Super handy if you ask me. After lunch, I had a casting for a TVC, a sanitary pad brand.
Today I had a test shoot for Taras. After the shoot, I had a salad for lunch called hipster. I just liked the name and I also had a nice smoothie with it. As if I wasn't enjoying enough already, I then paid a visit to the nail salon. My feet really needed a makeover.
Today I had a meeting with Umbrella Design, a casting agency for jewelry brands and gyms. Since it was quite a long wait, I filled the time by taking photos with fellow models.
It was quite a busy day again. A meeting with Vogue, GC, Femina, a casting for Hyundai 120, and a visit to the gym. Between the castings, we had lunch at the oldest coffee house in Mumbai, and after the castings, we had dinner at Restaurant Suzette. The latter is really a recommendation. I drank the best smoothie ever, with granola, and ate the tastiest crêpe ever.
Who says models don't eat well? I've been treated to all sorts of nice lunches all week and made banana pancakes with Nutella this morning. After that, I had an appointment with a photographer and did a casting for Pretty Secrets lingerie. In the evening, my roommate and I built a mini cinema. Laptop on the drying rack; well, you have to make do without a TV stand.
Today I had an appointment with photographer Farorokh. Might not mean much to you, but here in India, he is really a top photographer. I also had a fitting for a catalog. It was a nice week. Curious about the next one.
Love, Debbie
