HIP AND SMART SHOPPING

When May-Britt sees a plastic supermarket bag lying somewhere on the table she immediately gets a rash. Actually from all plastic bags. I do a bit too. So I immediately stuff them in the trash. That happens regularly because how often does it happen to me: “Sssshit I forgot to bring a shopping bag”? Quite often. Well, this week I took my laptop in a plastic Acne bag for two days, one of those you get when you buy something in the store. It's just that May-Britt was on a press trip for two days otherwise I would never have dared to do that. Saturday is market day and that means stocking up on lots of vegetables and fruit. And for the market, I like to dress a bit nicely, with a matching bag. Preferably as large as possible so I can also stop by the wine shop for some bottles of wine.

I've sniffed out the nicest shopping bags for you, it makes the street scene a lot nicer, don't you think?.

Okay, enough about the shopping bag, now onto a mini-course on smart shopping.

Never do that.

  • when you're hungry. Seriously, you end up throwing so much in your cart that you might not actually need and you'll never finish it. Make a list in advance, then you can race through the supermarket and forget nothing. And if you really don't know what to eat, let yourself be inspired by what's on sale. Win-win.
  • Prefer to buy whole pieces of vegetables and fruit rather than pre-cut. How much work is it really? It's cheaper and truly tastier.
  • Sometimes bend down a bit. The most expensive products are often at eye level.
  • Check the expiration date. Also, take a look all the way at the back of the shelf, because that's where the products with the longest shelf life are. For milk, take the last pack in the row.
  • And you know it, right?.
