Flat shoes that are actually nice
The ratio of flat shoes to heels in my closet is about 5% to 95%. The main reason I love heels so much is that my feet look smaller in them. I stand firmly on the ground with my size 41 (but I am thankfully tall by the way) which means a size boat is not really charming. Enter heels: which make your feet look a couple of sizes smaller. Now I don't mind walking on 12 centimeters for a whole day, but there are just moments when heels are not practical. Festivals, A day of sailing, a tourist day abroad, that kind of thing. What to do?
Jet and Josselin are Chef Sneaker and don't know this problem. Nikes just really don't fit me, but I really like All Stars. Only, All Stars make your feet look gigantic. Really enormous. So those are out. Vans then, they are really good and even give me small feet, so I have two pairs of those and while browsing through the new collections, I think I will be adding a few more this summer because really, Lies loves Vans. And this week a new brand came into my life: Mipacha.
Mipacha's are cheerful colorful shoes and the brand was founded by the Dutch Nick de Ronde Bresser. Two years ago, when he was 19, he flew to Peru and worked there with a Peruvian shoemaker for half a year on the design of the shoes. Aside from being really cool (I think), they are also responsible, as the brand stands for fair trade and creates opportunities for people in Peru. I am very happy with my Mipacha's and foresee sunny festival days without shoe dilemmas beforehand. I do think I will be ordering more colors in the coming weeks because one pair makes you want more.
Aside from my large size, I just have a general hatred for feet, so I reluctantly let those cute open sandals pass me by. Anyone burdened like me with a large size can rejoice in the shoes below, guaranteed success.
