How do you maintain your hair color?

I am a very dark brunette, but I dyed my hair a lot lighter in the spring blonde. Especially for king Alex, because yes, that's how I am. Since blondes have more fun, I wanted an even lighter mane. My friends from salon The Building gave me some extra highlights and wow, I actually got more attention. Because that attention is quite nice (that was totally not my intention, but still), I really want to know how on earth I can maintain that color for as long as possible. I researched this thoroughly.

Colored hair has the characteristic of becoming dry faster. Hydration is therefore very important. Hair cuticles open up when you color it, which causes dryness and dullness. You also apply cream to your dry skin, right? You will do the same for your hair. Guhl has a very nice product, specially designed for colored hair. It is generally recommended to wash your hair with products for colored hair. KMS has a special shampoo and conditioner, which nourishes the hair extra.

Showering? Think twice

If you have colored hair, it is better not to shower at all. You can definitely go a few weeks without, right? Haha, just kidding. Don’t you worry. But it is good not to wash your hair too much. Especially when you go on vacation, because foreign tap water often contains a higher chlorine percentage than here in the Netherlands. Waterfilter

If you really only want the best water for your hair and skin, you can choose to install a water filter in your shower. Or you can fill your bath with Evian or other fancy mineral water. That can of course also be done.

Hats and caps

Colored hair needs to be well protected from the sun. This has to do with those open cuticles I just mentioned. Sun rays accelerate this process. I already loved wearing hats, but now that it also has a hair protection function, you won't see me without one this summer. So I would say stock up on those headgear.
