Internet language
For a long time, I saw things like FML, NSFW, OP, and MRW all over the internet and I had no idea what they meant. OP stands for “Olivia Palermo” in my book, as her husband Johannes calls her, but it seemed unlikely that the whole internet has such an obsession with her so it must mean something else. You really see NSFW everywhere, but what does it mean? No worries, here I present you with an internet language dictionary, so you can join in completely.
NSFW → Not Safe For Work. So when a certain post or video is quite sexy and you shouldn't open it in front of your boss or colleagues.
FML → Fuck My Life. “The cat threw up on my new shoes, I found out I had a flat tire, and I forgot an appointment. FML.” For when everything is just going really badly.
OP → Original Poster. Especially on user sites, a commonly used term, the OP is the one who posted the picture or joke online first, and then others start to ‘repost’ it.’
NGL → Not Gonna Lie. “NGL, I really think Game of Thrones is a terrible series.”
TIL → Today I Learned. Frequently used in comments and replies.
TBT → Truth Be Told, you can also use
TBH which stands for To Be Honest.
IMO → In My Opinion. “IMO, I don't understand why the rest of the world is such a fan of Game of Thrones.”
NDB → No Big Deal. Seems clear to me.
IDK → I Don’t Know.
IRL → In Real Life
