LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF

A year and a half ago, while gazing upwards, I almost got a neck hernia. I couldn't stop looking at all those buildings and found everything so tall, so immense, so fast, and I especially found it mega bizarre that New York was now our ‘home’. I felt like a mini-creature amidst all that grandeur and I was chronically lost during the first weeks after moving. We moved to New York for my love companion. I with a trembling lip, he with a new job.

The big move was already a year and a half ago and I am completely in the game. Well, in the game... At least I can get from A to B flawlessly without Google Maps, I am infected with the everything-must-be-green-and-organic virus, I run like a madman through the gym (which I really didn't do before), I walk and text at the same time without causing accidents, so I never leave home without an external battery and I have completely mastered weekend brunching.

I also refuse to always be ‘on the go’ and remain a specialist in homebodies.

Sometimes I wonder if I have really changed much. Okay, I have become a bit more of a health freak, but I still enjoy going all out on gin tonics (with a cigarette here and there). I also refuse to always be ‘on the go’ and I remain a specialist in homebodies. I mean, what could be better than chatting for hours in my pajamas with my best friend on the other end of the line? Furthermore, I still have a shameless girl crush on Kim K (which is not done among trendy New Yorkers), I find Dutch people with a fake American accent incredibly annoying, and I crave a kroket sandwich and a patat oorlog every week.

The past year and a half was cool, but certainly not non-stop roses and moonlight. Especially at the beginning, I felt quite like the silly duck and had no idea what I was supposed to do here. In short: my boyfriend had work and I had nothing. And then my blog came along. Through Instagram, I noticed that my New York pictures and outfits were quite appreciated, so I thought: why not start a blog about this? I launched it online and one thing led to another. And one of these things is: Amayzine. For months now, my favorite place for online click-and-view sessions. So I am as proud as a peacock that I will be writing for you on Amayzine from New York. See you very soon.
