Amayzine

Recently, I spent 24 hours in Maastricht. I wrote I wrote to you about where I drank, slept, and ate, and that post went like a rocket. Well, I think you would like more of that. Today, I'm taking you to Rotterdam. A city where every time I'm there, I think: why am I not here more often? The hospitality scene is mega (which means really very cool) and how nice is it to go away for a weekend in your own country? Very nice. So today, I present to you my ‘where I sleep, eat, and drink’ in Rotjeknor.

Breakfast

Baker&Moore has an extensive breakfast menu, and the fun part is that you can order from that menu all day on Saturdays and Sundays. For the sleepyheads among us.

Markt Café is located at the Markthal, and you really need to secure a spot on the terrace. They have perfect croissants and freshly squeezed juice here.

Hopper is a very nice coffee bar. Perfect espresso shots guaranteed.

Dining

Mrs. Meijer is located in the neighborhood “Het Oude Noorden”, a trendy area where old local pubs and hip spots can be found side by side.

The Markthal is brand new and an international attraction. Here you find market stalls, terraces, restaurants, and bars mixed together. You can eat all sorts of things here: dim sum, sushi, tapas, or pintxos. The market closes at 9 PM, but the hospitality stays open until midnight.

Cuisine Yama is actually the best Japanese restaurant in the city and still a bit affordable too. I like that.

Gare du Nord. This restaurant is 100 percent vegetarian. Dare to take a man here, believe me; he will find it amazing.

Cocktails

Bar Admiraliteit is super fancy and especially fun because there are small bites on the menu. Sashimi with a gin and tonic? I don't know if it's allowed, but for me, this is an amazing combination.

Dr. You can bet that very hip Rotterdam is here, so just to be safe, arrange for a high heel and a fresh spritz of perfume. This is a secret cocktail bar, which is why you can't just walk in here. You get a phone number through connections to make a reservation and get a password. A challenge, then.

Sleeping

It might get a bit boring if I say Hotel New York, because I think I've mentioned that amazing hotel a few times before, but it remains a fantastic place with the most beautiful view over the Maas. Be sure to take the speedboat.

Nhow is hip stuff and hasn't even been open for that long. It's in the center, so that means rolling home. You can also eat well there, by the way.
