May I introduce you to Maartje? A person who is incredibly important to me every day. Maartje lives in Drachten, teaches Dutch to children in secondary education, writes a moderation column for the site A Twist of Lime, and has recently taken on the final editing for Amayzine.com. Well, if anyone could use a red pen, it's me. During my final exam, I was given much more time than others and the A4 sheets had become A3. Yep, dyslexia. How often I make that t- and d-error is frustrating. Sorry guys, maybe you’ve noticed it before, but I just can’t get it right. Fortunately, I have many other good qualities and I recently have Maartje who carefully goes through my texts. Now I think she deserves a spot in the Look of the Day, so here we go:
The skirt is from H&M, I have it too and it is seriously my favorite skirt. The same goes for Maartje, that’s why she has two in case one looks too worn out. The same goes for the leather jacket (also H&M). There are also two of those hanging in the closet. She finds it ridiculous herself, but I understand her all too well.
The shiny black shoes are from Dr. Martens and she actually only likes them under a skirt. “When I was 16 and slightly goth, I wore Dr. Martens under those wide pants, you know? Thankfully, we’ve moved past that time.”
The lambswool sweater is from American Vintage, the hat and scarf are from H&M. Oh yes, that bag is her pride, it’s the Alexa from Mulberry. Paid for it all at once with the Christmas bonus. During the week it stays in a dustbag in the closet, but on the weekend it gets pulled out and worn. I feel a My Life in a Bag moment coming on…
The necklace from Trois Petits Points she bought recently at Trade Studio in Haarlem. That was it. Our final editor from Amayzine.
Oh yes, it may of course be that Maartje sometimes overlooks a word, right? So don’t get too angry, okay? We are just human too.
