Make-up bag
Sophia Tienstra
Sophia is often referred to as the it-girl of Amsterdam. I would rather call her a made-it-girl. This woman is super gorg, voguish and also has a considerable amount of ambition. She founded the online marketing agency 101 Media Strategies and beautyandthe.com launched: an interactive beauty platform where products are reviewed, both by the editorial team and the visitors. Receiving the makeup bag from this beauty intellect is just like Mr. Christian himself handing you your first pair of Louboutins.
What a understated brown bag, chic indeed. Somehow I expected a brightly colored and busy example. Nice, the first surprise is a fact. It’s a full bag with a lot of makeup: a glittering foundation-like substance from Burberry (the Fresh Glow) and a primer and Stay-in-Place from Estée Lauder. Sophia wears the Vamp! mascara from Pupa and Dream Terra Sun Bronzer from Maybelline. Again something from Estée Lauder, namely a Night Repair Eye Serum. Praise the Lord, beauty queen Sophia has something for my tired eyes. I see a nice powder pen from L’Oréal, Big Eyes eyeshadow from Maybelline and a very interesting bottle called Girl Meets Pearl from Benefit. Uncharted territory, so I look forward to the testing moment. I see some mess in the bag and I actually find that quite cozy. A broken brush, caps that are not properly screwed on and tubes that are nicely smeared. Washing hands afterwards is therefore a must. But hey, the flawlessly looking Sophia is fortunately just a human too. And who am I to complain about this, I myself can finger paint every morning after doing my makeup with the mess on my hands.
Anyway, this is something I could work with. The qualitative and pricey products reveal Sophia’s exquisite taste.
Well, seriously, the eye serum, the Fresh Glow, the primer and the Stay-in-Place provide such an incredibly flawless skin. Just wonderful. The bottle with ‘pearls’ from Benefit is a total catch: my skin shines like a freshly polished diamond necklace from Tiffany’s. The mascara is also nice; with just two strokes I have full lashes. I also apply some of the blue eyeshadow just above my eyelid. I see that this has hardly been touched by Sophia, so I’ll help her out. Flawless and all, I dive into the city to show off my radiant skin in the Amsterdam nightlife. I can tell you, after a Skinny Bitch (vodka soda) or four, I was still glowing just as much.
Mrs. Tienstra, what a lovely pouch. I would especially take all your covering skin products. But to make your makeup bag completely 2.0 (that is your business after all), I have some tips, free of charge. Applying foundation with your hands really doesn’t work and I can imagine that there are some sponges or brushes lying around on your beauty editorial. Take them with you, take them with you. Broken brushes I also find a bit sad, so throw them away or glue them (you really don’t need to be a professional for that). And where is your blush? Do you really have such Snow White-like cheeks of your own? If not, then I can recommend the nice example of M.A.C . Thank you Sophia for letting me be you for just a moment. That was nice.
