MAY I INTRODUCE MYSELF TO YOU?
When I got the question from May if I wanted to fill in for globetrotter Lies in the coming weeks, my heart did skip a beat. Because I am such a fan of this wonderful site. And well, as a fellow shoe addict, wine lover and cat enthusiast, there are certainly a few similarities to be found between us.
Anyway, maybe it's nice to know a little more about me. I am a 23-year-old fashion enthusiast, journalist, and an eternal romantic. Almost always seen in high heels and with a suitcase (because yes, just a lot of stuff, always). I am known for my bangs, which I, despite being a bit tired of, dare not imagine my life without for fear that people won't recognize me anymore. Okay, and because I secretly suddenly fear a big forehead.
“I am known for my bangs, which I, despite being a bit tired of, dare not imagine my life without for fear that people won't recognize me anymore.‘
I cut my hair myself, by the way. One month I think it's brilliant and the next month it's so crooked that I half-screaming call a friend who then comes to rescue me with her hairdressing scissors. During the week, I spend my days in my brand new little house right next to De Dom in Utrecht, and on weekends, I camp out at my boyfriend's in picturesque Epe. Where? Somewhere near Zwolle, let's just leave it at that. You obviously don't get to choose the address of your holiday lover. Although I have since fallen in love with Epe and can recharge on the other side of the country after a few hectic weekdays.
I've been crazy about writing my whole life, and as far as I can remember, from the moment I could hold a pen, I've filled diaries with sense and nonsense about life, my crush on a new gym teacher (again), and embarrassing drawings. From the School of Journalism, I rolled into an internship at Marie Claire magazine, and now I can be found on the lifestyle editorial team at NU.nl, writing weekly for LINDAnieuws.nl. Additionally, I have started my own lifestyle platform with a friend: teteatete.nl, for which I write daily news and give readers a glimpse into the life of a lifestyle journalist. Because goodness gracious, we do experience quite a bit together. Love for my other half Hajar.
“I can't speak German, although I sometimes act slightly tipsy as if – and the same goes for Spanish by the way.”
I love to travel very much, although my fear of flying still often gets in the way (no Lies, I fear we don't have this in common), I can't speak German, although I sometimes act slightly tipsy as if – and the same goes for Spanish by the way. I also have a strange aversion to faucets. Why, I don't know exactly, but I just find them weird long snouts from which water comes out, and I don't like it. So that. Once I had Kim Kardashian on the phone (more on that later) and I am addicted to white chocolate and everything that has to do with Oreo cookies. Which causes me to consistently gain ten kilos, lose it again, and gain it back. And so the story continues. Well, are you getting a bit of an idea? If not, don’t worry. In the coming weeks, I will keep you updated even more and try to please you with my writings. Because you still owe me that Kim K story in vivid detail.
Love! Kiek
