May is going to Ibiza and taking along

If you are reading this, I am getting my husband (well, he can do it himself) and kids onto the plane. After we have celebrated King's Day, we will head south towards the always pleasant Ibiza. A temperature of 21 degrees and a house (with steaming wifi, swimming pool and outdoor kitchen) that is within walking distance of San José is waiting for us. In the suitcase go my Ibiza essentials and because there is little more fun than peeking into someone else's suitcase, I will tell you what’s inside.

Sisley sunscreen

The absolute best sunscreen I have ever used. Since then, I have never had a rash (before that, I would already be covered in bumps after two glasses of rosé on a terrace) and I became the most beautiful tan that lasted the longest. The whole family gets smeared with this. I tell my children that the queen does this with the princesses too, after which they obediently let themselves be smeared. Also nice is that Sisley has a brown stick with which you immediately have a foundation on your face and can cover up a reddening nose or forehead there on the beach of Cala Jundal.

Denim shorts

Because this is always good. Especially in Ibiza. During the day combined with an espadrille and your top, in the evening with my top from Chloé (which is nice and loose, which is a particularly good idea considering the food there) and a nice heel underneath. I bought these at J.Crew in New York at a temperature of minus 20 (Celsius, of course), so you understand that I have been looking forward to wearing these shorts in real life, ever, ever, ever. And this is the moment.

My Joseph dress

On the hanger, it looks a bit decent, but once on, it is super sexy. I will shoot a Look of the Day with it this week. See it in full glory.

Chanel-espadrilles

Almost every major designer has released a pair of espadrilles this year. Jet is on the waiting list for those from Louis Vuitton, Josselin fantasizes about the Kenzo espadrilles and Liesbeth and I danced for those from Dolce & Gabbana, but I still have my good old Chanel ones that I still think are great.

Don't forget your toothbrush

This is the Sergio Rossi of toothbrushes. Beautiful and useful. At home, it charges via induction by simply placing it in its glass, abroad it lasts two weeks on its full battery, and otherwise, I can always plug a cord into the case and it charges up anyway.

Sunglasses

Ibiza calls for a touch of extravagance, so my green Fendi is definitely coming along. I think it matches perfectly with that Joseph dress. I also recently received this nice Chanel that of course has to come along. Because it is so cool and wonderfully light. Ideal for a warm day.

Reading material

I hardly ever get around to reading and with three children without swimming diplomas, I can't drown in the most solid reading material yet. Therefore, this book about the early days of Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld is coming along (you knew they once had a relationship, right?) and I am looking forward to the novel by Rick Nieman. My father just finished it and he even had to cry a little when he read the final sequence.

The perfume

I love to wear a specific perfume just for a vacation so that it always reminds me of that trip. I think it will be Sel Marin by Heely. It smells of salt and sea, and that is the essence of Ibiza.
