May’s Open Doors Paradise

“Is this it?” is pretty much the standard comment when I showed people my wardrobe. Truly, my love has made a beautiful built-in closet, but the size often fell a bit short.

How come I have such a modestly sized closet? Well, I am particularly good at sorting and separating, so what hangs in my closet gets worn. Moreover, I have a separate dressing attic that dutifully stores my winter and summer clothes.

But, dear people, the time of disappointment is over. The season of upgrades has begun. May I introduce to you… rapapa, rapapa. My open doors paradise.

It happened like this. One of my Chanel friends whispered to me that she saw a closet ‘somewhere’ (it was at Ikea), so beautiful. I scrolled through her photos and knew: “I must, want, and will have that.”

I still had a room in the house that was just standing there a bit aimlessly. Such a room, the most beautiful in the house no less, that was slowly filling up with junk. You probably know it. I moved some cabinets, shifted the sofa bed to the other wall, paid a visit to Ikea, and Kees was ready.

Because Ikea actually has a delivery and installation service. For a little extra, a particularly friendly gentleman comes who lifts everything upstairs by himself, assembles it, and tidies up. So I came home from a day at work and found my paradise there.

By the way, I am not being paid for this piece. Although that would be nice. Because it’s such a shame to keep all my carefully collected goods behind closed doors, I decided to keep it open doors. I already spent the evening yesterday with a glass of wine on the sofa bed, looking at the stuff and thinking about what I could still pull out of the closet.

Yes Winonah and Sylvie, you have competition. Watch out.
