#facetheday

my morning routine

How I start my morning influences how I feel for the rest of the day. If I rush out of bed, sleep through the alarm, or don't run the route I actually planned, then my mood might not be very cheerful. Just try sitting next to me. Ahem. To prevent that, I have a morning ritual that I am very attached to. And I have it because every day when I wake up, I feel the urge to perform, to get my to-do list done, to appear at the party looking my best, and also to give enough attention to friends, family, and love (I think I speak for many other girls with this list). Okay, it all sounds a bit heavy and loaded, and I don't mean it that way, but the pressure is certainly high to make every day an amazing day. And rightly so.

First of all, going to bed on time is my secret. Or medicine, however you want to call it. In bed before 10:30 PM, not scrolling too long on Instagram, but going to sleep right away. Anyway, I wake up at half past seven feeling as fresh as a daisy. I prefer to jump out of bed and put on my running gear immediately.

If I start my day with exercise, then I'm already off to a good start. It often happens without, but it gives just that little bit more energy to step onto my bike radiantly. I live at the corner of Vondelpark, so I jog out my door for a round, and I'm back after three quarters of an hour.  Recently, I put on my bikini and walked to the swimming pool (also nearby). So nice, those laps. Half an hour (at speed) back and forth and it's done. And if I'm really in a good mood, I might get up at 7 for a session of boot camp or bikram yoga. In the summer, that early rising is of course a bit easier. In December? Not a chance.

So I can shower incredibly quickly. Seriously, I'm back outside within a minute, and I've soaped up, cleaned my face, and washed my hair if necessary. Quick, drying off and then comes my moisturizing ritual. Legs from top to toe with the BB Milk from Biotherm and on my face the Aquasource Cream. Also from Biotherm. If I don't forget, a bit of eye gel, a swipe of mascara, and then I'm actually done.

Then I need to eat before I start working, otherwise I can't function. Usually, I throw whatever is in the fridge into the blender and turn it into a (green) smoothie, or I prepare pancakes, oatmeal, and an egg. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for. By the way, I also love treating myself to a juice at a cold-pressed juicery.

So I happily face my day.

Do you also have a specific morning ritual with which you prefer to start your day?

Share your #facetheday with me. On Instagram or Facebook, you can choose. I want to know what your perfect start to the day looks like. What are your rituals, beauty tricks, what do you have for breakfast, what can you not do without to start your (work)day in a good mood? Share your photos with me, I'm curious. Let's inspire each other and face each day with a smile.
