It looks a bit complicated, literally yes, but it is really quite doable. No long hair? Ooh, no problem, because then you just get some hairpieces and fake it a bit. Adriana from The Building AMS shows you how to do this in easy bite-sized steps.

Braiding
Make a tight parting in the hair and braid from here. You make a braid to one side and a braid to the other side. To avoid using elastics, spray the braids with hairspray and tease the ends. This way, the braids will stay in place. Actually, you already have a great look for the evening. But the real die-hard braider just keeps going.

Braiding continuation
If you continue, there is still a lot of braiding work waiting for you. You braid the bottom of the hair in and secure extensions with U-Pins. What Adriana has done is braid all the extensions first, so she doesn't have to do that on her head anymore. You can then also neatly hide the U-pins.

Finishing touch
Use a dry shampoo to give it a rougher texture. This way, you can also pull out some strands, making it a slightly more organic hairstyle. That undone feeling comes back here as well.
