It’s nothing new in Hollywood: choosing friends based on their popularity. Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian were the initiators, closely followed by Paris and Nicole, Paris and Lindsey, Paris and basically everyone. If your own fame is never enough or even worse, you suffer from a lack of talent or success, then you’d better start befriending people who do have an impressive career. Alternatively, you both could have a rocking career and choose each other in order to achieve unprecedented levels of fame and success together. Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn and Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow. For those of you in search of a power girlfriend (I hate the word ‘power’ but the new buzz idea floating around at the moment is ‘power friending’, so forgive me) read this and take immediate action.
1. Tally up her social ranking.
Is important because if they are going to take a picture of the two of you together and put it on Instagram / Twitter / Facebook this should in turn result in new followers for you. This is extremely important for when the two of you are no longer friends and you are on the search for the next BFF.
2. Take stock of her friends
This is important because what we all ideally are after is a circle of friends that are only made up of hotshots and celebs. Furthermore, one must not forget the virtual shout-outs and new friendships that lie on the periphery and not to forget all the parties and red carpet invites.
3. Does she belong to a different profession?
This could work in your favor. Say for example that you are sitting pretty in the fashion world and she in the music world, then via the friendship all of a sudden you are the person that sits in both of these very cool worlds, and that is what we want.
4. Is she the same dress size as you?
Obviously you’d go for the friend that is a size or two bigger than yourself. That will just make you look slimmer, but don’t under estimate the joys of a friend with the same dress size and a rocking wardrobe. Your choices are instantly doubled. Weigh up what best is for you.
5. Be cautious of her relationship status.
The perfect solution here is that you are both single. This makes it then possible to to go out manhunting together. If it is the case that she has a boyfriend and you don’t, then it is important to check that he A) is not too possessive of your BFF and B) has loads of hot, single friends so that you can eventually be matched up with them and then you all can go double dating together. If you both have a boyfriend then you need to take care that the two guys have something in common, because they can count on spending a lot of time together.
6. Avoid flash in the pans
Well of course you could have also come up with that yourself.
Happy friend-shopping! Following these helpful tips and tricks, you too will have friendships that are just as strong as those of the Hollywood stars.
