Those Boef sweaters, huh? They come from the creative minds of Frank and his twin brother Bas. Colourful Rebel is their name, great is their fame. But bet you didn't know that the now oh so handsome Frank used to look very, very different.
What does no one expect from you?
“I think no one expects that I secretly feel very insecure. That has to do with my middle part that was always smeared with gel and my silly round glasses during the first 18 years of my life. After that, the parting went away, I got contact lenses, and at 19 I experienced the joy of my first kiss. God, what a liberation that was. Her name was Monika and she also worked at McDonald's. Bas and I both worked there, and almost everyone in Apeldoorn knew the Mc twins after five years, I sometimes felt like a boy band.”
What do others find incredibly annoying about you?
“I wouldn't actually know. I think it’s really annoying that I can complain a lot. There’s always something, but you could also categorize that under being critical.”
Which song on your playlist cannot stand the daylight?
“Gordon – ‘Because I Love You So Much’ is really a fantastic song to me. When you play that, I'm immediately ready to go. And you can say what you want about Justin Bieber, but he makes some pretty good songs!”
Do you have an obsession?
“My scooter always has to be clean, and if something rattles or so, I really go crazy, I can think about it all day or hang half next to the engine block while riding to listen to what it is, I know, very silly, but try getting over that. And I can't stand mess on the floor in the kitchen, like a piece of onion or some salt. If I feel that on my bare feet, I get instantly grumpy. By the way, my electric toothbrush also always has to stand upright, I find it so disgusting when that thing is lying down.”
What is your most used excuse?
“Oh, no, then I'm busy, man.” Now I do get caught everywhere immediately, but okay. I'm always afraid that I disappoint people when I say I don't feel like it.”
Is there a movie that always makes you cry?
“No, I actually never watch movies and can't remember the last time I cried during a film. Well, with that book by Kluun, but that was around a time when my father-in-law was fighting cancer, so that hit very close to home.”
