Terraces with sun after 6 PM part 3
Groningen edition
Welcome to episode 3 of Terraces with sun after 6 PM. Today I'm heading north. The city of Groningen, to be precise. A city where I've often danced in cafés until incredibly late (they stay open endlessly long compared to Amsterdam). But now we're not going into the night, but into the evening. On a terrace with sun. Plenty of nice people who need that.
So here we go again: hop to those terraces with late sun in Groningen.
Still quite new is Flinders Café on the corner of Schuitendiep and Nieuweweg. The trendy colorful tables and chairs outside already reveal that this must be a lot of fun. You can have breakfast there until 4:30 PM (breakfast, yes!) and they serve good and healthy food using many organic products from local suppliers. I like that. Oh yes, definitely also visit the sister (or brother?) of Flinders in Noorderplantsoen; just as nice.
Not just for the students studying across the street in the University Library. Mr. Mofongo in Broerstraat has a lovely sheltered (but sunny!) terrace where dishes from all over the world can be ordered. Order the Salade Chèvre. It's delicious.
A bit further along, but right by the water you have Kaap Hoorn. Indeed, at the Hoornse Plas. The surfers will fly by as soon as a single ray of sunshine appears, so a good view is guaranteed. Now you ‘have to’ try the asparagus, but that's no punishment, right? The truffle risotto and salmon are also recommended. If it gets a bit too chilly, you can just move inside. It has a bit of the feel of a beach bar, so... mojito, anyone?
Behind Zomers, which is located at the Vismarkt, there's a really nice terrace hidden away. Inside they have quirky vintage tables and chairs, but that's not why we're here. On large wooden benches you can enjoy the evening sun in the garden. Snack, drink; nothing more to complain about, right?
