“Say Jet, shall we do you in the TGIF. You are back from vacation and everyone is of course very curious about how you are doing and what you are up to,” I said to Jet. So without further ado, Jet, how was it all?
Hi Jet, it's Liesbeth here, how was your week?
“Well, it lasted quite a long time, I must admit. On Monday I started again at the editorial (editorial in Amayzine style) after three weeks of doing nothing. Of course, I was really looking forward to seeing everyone again and was full of inspiration for nice pieces, but that Aperol Spritz and the Italian sun could have lasted a bit longer. It's never good, right? My week was nice with an interview with Lotte, which you can read here, and a visit to Deblon Sport at Céline to take a look in her bag (and of course for the sportswear). For the rest, I have picked up sports a bit again and am slowly getting back into my old familiar Jet rhythm.”
Oh yes, that vacation, how wonderful. Tell me, if you could name one highlight, what would it be?
“Phew, you’re asking me something. Can I say everything? Anyway, you’re going to roll your eyes now because you’re going crazy from my dating stuff.”
Is a vacation like the one you just had your ideal vacation?
“Yes, absolutely. Although I might choose a place next time that is a bit closer to a village, so you don’t have to use the car for everything. So annoying when you want to have a drink in the evening and those Italians drive like crazy. But a vacation with sun, sea, beach, and especially really doing absolutely nothing is very much what I like. I can lie in the sun for hours. Well, if a beach ball set goes in the bag and a stack of magazines, I’m completely happy..”
And speaking of that, what is your ideal weekend? Ha, yes, nice bridge, right?.
“Good one Lies, you’re such a good interviewer. In Amsterdam? The weekend starts on Saturday with sports, that’s when my day starts the best. Then I like to go to the market to shop: fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. Lunching out with friends and then that lunch should actually turn into dinner. Endless chatting, drinks, and food. That’s when I’m the happiest. Sunday is sleeping in and I would like to say reading a book, but then I’m really lying. Especially ideal is to be offline for a bit, no work, just attention for my loved ones and not too many appointments. Being able to do what I feel like.”
And this weekend? What does that look like?
“Yesss, you know that. We’re going to have an amazing time on Saturday at the Buiten Westen festival. We start with a brunch at my place. I believe we’ll be with twelve fun people, so that’s going to be a blast. I’m really looking forward to it because this is our first real festival together Lies. On Sunday I’m afraid it’s going to be a rough day on the couch.”
When does the cork usually pop for you?
“Yes Lies, I think you’d love to have a glass with me every day to end the day, but this (wannabe) fit girl doesn’t do that. I’m an incredible softy who already has a bit of a hangover after two glasses the next day and I don’t think it’s worth it. So I usually save it for the weekend. On Friday, I love a gin and tonic or a spätburgunder. But to be honest, I can also skip a night because I want to be fresh the next day. And yes, I want to be in the gym, yes.”
And Monday, back early to the gym or snoozing a bit more?
“Ha, you know me, absolutely the gym. See you there?”
