We saw Tom sitting next to May-Britt at the table with Humberto Tan on RTL Late Night a while ago. He talked about his company Personal Body Plan. He even got Humberto to do a floor exercise. Today Tom talks about his weekend. Will he spend it at the gym or somewhere else?

The new year has begun and people have good intentions. Are there many new registrations at Personal Body Plan because of this?

Yes, there are a lot of new registrations from people with good intentions. Monday, January 5th, the new cohort starts. There are even so many new registrations that we had to hire 5 new coaches last week. We are now a team of 21 experts, so we are growing fast.

And tell me? Are many customers dropping out?

Our participants commit for at least a period of 6 months, so no one drops out quickly. You really make a commitment. Your coach is very important in this, as they guide you through every step of the plan. We also focus on behavior change. We want to teach participants why they do something instead of just telling them what to do.

Do you have good intentions yourself?

Yes, definitely! In 2015 we want to open the Personal Body Gym in Amsterdam. Furthermore, we want to expand the organization and look at international expansion. My personal goal is to get in my best shape ever. I need to lower my body fat percentage and train hard. I will also join the new cohort starting January 5th to achieve the best results for the summer. Because you have to start that now.

Did you hold back during the holidays?

Well, what we try to teach our participants is on one hand flexibility and on the other hand control. You can still eat and drink everything, but do it in moderation. That doesn’t sound sexy, but it’s true. So that’s how I do it too. Consistency is the key to success.

What does your plan consist of?

Our plans are based on 4 elements: behavior, nutrition, training, and recovery. Those elements are tailored to the individual.

I will first make an overview for myself. I will look at my bad habits at the moment. I will then tackle those. One bad habit is that I have become a bit weak in preparing meals for myself. I just moved, and because of that, extensive cooking has fallen by the wayside a bit. So I need to spend a bit more time on that again. I always train, but I will set targets. And motivation in the form of a photoshoot always works well for me too.

You ask quite a lot from people. How does that work? Do you test people first to see if they can handle it?

Our new participants first take an online Lifestyle ID test. We ask all sorts of questions to find out what kind of participant we are dealing with. Based on those questions, we can create a plan that fits that person exactly. Moreover, we determine based on all this personal data which Online Lifestyle Coach suits you best. That coach also answers all questions and gives advice within 24 hours.

When do you kick off the weekend and how?

I am still at the office now. It’s a very busy day, as so many new people are starting next week. I have a lot of things to arrange for that. Additionally, I just moved and still need to move the last bits today. I think I’ll do that later.

Tonight I’m going out to dinner with a group of friends at People’s Place. I don’t know yet what the evening will bring. Usually, I go to Jimmy Woo, to Please Don’t Tell.

Tomorrow morning I will train again and in the afternoon I will have coffee with friends somewhere. Probably at the Ceintuur Theater. I always find that nice.

If you didn’t have to take anything into account, what would your ideal weekend look like?

Then I would immediately take a plane to abroad. Preferably New York, SoHo. I fell in love with that neighborhood when I was there in the summer. I would go crazy in the best clubs and wake up late the next day to see what else the city has to offer. Maybe go to a baseball game or another sport. That also seems fun to attend.

What time does the alarm go off on Monday?

6 AM. I wake up that early every morning. Then I go to the gym before work. I usually start at 7 AM. After that, I go to the office to work all day. Meeting in, meeting out. Around 8 PM I come home and often work a bit more. My social life mainly takes place on the weekends. I still need to find a good balance between effort and relaxation during the week.
