When we ‘Heaven’ say, you say Do. But Do is no longer just Heaven. She is so much more. Besides a singing careerèshe is now doing well with presenting. Since last Saturday, she has been presenting the show Lekker Nederlands, where Nick & Simon and the guys from Jurk! make you laugh out loud. Does Do have time to catch her breath on the weekend? Just read along…

Do, since last Saturday the new program Lekker Nederlands is on the air. How did you end up here?

Well, the format was proposed to the production team of Talpa and they were looking for someone with a lot of self-mockery, who loves games and can also be serious. And of course someone who has something to do with music. And then they quickly came to me. I really enjoy it, especially with Nick & Simon and Jurk!. They are very good at their job, but it's always laughing, joking, and roaring.

That leads very coincidentally to my next question. Don't you constantly have the giggles?

Absolutely. Wonderful, I think it's éfantastic. Laughing is the best thing there is, it makes me happy and besides it also relieves stress. The funny thing is that the days those we record last quite long, but I come home totally not tired. I actually come home with a lot of energy. But that silly behavior doesn't stop with those guys either. It's not like they only make jokes when the camera is on, it's just all day long. So it's very nice to combine that with work and my passion for singing.

You sing, you present. Is the next step a role in a movie or do you stick to singing?

That question has been asked to me before, but it remains difficult to answer. I also find it arrogant to say that I could act in a movie. I did get a taste of the profession when I played in the musical Cinderella and I participated in the DVD ‘Zien’ by Marco Borsato. I really enjoyed that, but for now, I'll stick to singing and presenting.

Do you have that Thank God it's’s Friday feeling today??

Definitely! Quite coincidentally yes. I have been super busy the the past weeks and I haven't often thought: I need to take a few days off now. But now I do, and this is my first day off in weeks. Fortunately, the weather is also lovely, so I'm going to enjoy it.

How do you kick off the weekend? Do you do that with a snack and a drink?

As we speak, I'm in the car to an old building materials store. We just bought a new house and I've seen some nice things that I'm going to pick up shortly. After that, I'm going to enjoy some coffee and lunch and tonight some wine! Full enjoyment.

Do you have to work on the weekend or do you have time to do fun things with your family?

I'm enjoying a nice weekend off. Tomorrow I have a date with my best friend for the first time in a long time, without the little one. That's just different. Furthermore, I'm going to spend the weekend to only with nice people around me and enjoy everything and everyone.

What are your favorite things to do on the weekend?

Well, I'm often on the road. So I really enjoy just being at home. We have a lovely garden, so I find it wonderful to work a bit there. Going to the market is also something I really enjoy. Buying nice fruits and vegetables and then experimenting a bit culinarily. I've tried to read books, but since I have my little boy, I fall asleep after three pages. Apparently, I really need my sleep.

Does Saturday feel different to you than Sunday?

No, I don't know that. My life is so irregular. So it's not like I'm always off on the weekend and on Sunday think: oh, tomorrow is my last day off!

Last question. Monday is King's Day, what are you going to do?

I think we're going to enjoy the Vondelpark with friends. Our little boy can just walk, so it's nice if we're somewhere where he he can walk nicely. Furthermore, we're just going to have a great time with’everyone and there will probably be homemade vodka and sangria at on the table.
