We probably know Renée Vervoorn from the time she was a VJ at TMF. Nowadays, she is co-owner of Clean Meals. She is known for her envy-inducing body that is, of course, trained by her husband, who is also a personal trainer. We were curious about her weekend. Read along.

Renée, you are co-owner of Clean Meals. Can you tell our Amayzine readers a bit more about that?

Clean Meals are super healthy, ready-made meals that are delivered to your home or work. The composition of the meals is unique: a lot of high-quality proteins, fibers, vitamins, and minerals, yet very low in calories. Additionally, they contain no E-numbers, preservatives, sugars, you name it. So it's completely good. Especially if you don't have the time or desire to spend a long time in the kitchen, it's ideal.

You can get more information via cleanmeals.nl and all Amayzine readers now receive 10% discount on a trial package of Clean Meals. You just need to enter the code RENEE10. The code is valid until April 30, so be quick.

Have you always paid attention to your diet or has that crept in over the past few years?

I have been paying attention to my diet for years. I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), so I have to take good care of myself by exercising a lot, eating healthy and regularly, and occasionally really relaxing. I wouldn't want it any other way now. My body also doesn't react well to sugars and other junk, so a healthy lifestyle fits me like a finely tailored designer dress.

Do you have tips on how we can live healthier?

Eat the right things (and thus no prefab food) and especially eat regularly. Ensure sufficient proteins, lots of vegetables, whether pressed in a slow juicer or not, and be moderate with carbohydrates. And: don't drink sugary drinks like cola and Fanta.
But never starve yourself. That works totally counterproductive and is also unnecessary. Be generous to yourself sometimes. A glass of wine on a sunny terrace should just be possible. It has to stay fun.

With a personal trainer as a husband, the chance is high that you also train a lot yourself. How often can we find you at the gym?

I train regularly, of course, and always feel better after a workout, but with two daughters, a dog, a business, and a lovely husband, I unfortunately don't have time for an ultimate sports regime every week.

I do some form of sport about 3 times a week. From a PT session at 3SIXTY5 Personal Training to Pilates and (hot) yoga. I love it.

How do you kick off the weekend on this sunny Friday?

Bizarre but true, because sitting on a terrace is of course ideal with this nice weather, but I dive into the hot yoga room for an hour of Bikram Yoga. After that, I'm completely zen. Nice for me and for my family.

What are your further plans this weekend?

Tomorrow evening, I will take my oldest daughter of 12 and her best friend to the final of The Voice Kids. During the day, I will relax with my feet up and a nice book in the sun after I have stocked up on all sorts of goodies at a nice little (organic) market here in the neighborhood in Amstelveen for the rest of the week. After this busy week, I am also really looking forward to quality time with my girls and husband. On Sunday, I think we will take a nice walk in the woods with our dog Teddy and admire the new house of friends. So curious.

Does your Saturday always look different than your Sunday?

Yes. Saturday is often about doing things. Running errands, organizing things, taking kids back and forth to sports activities, training myself, you name it. Sunday is about doing as little as possible. A bit of lounging at home, having lunch somewhere, quality time with our family and friends. Very relaxed.

Sunday is going to be nice weather. Suppose you go to the terrace; do you pay as much attention to your diet as usual or can you have a glass of wine with a bitterball?

I rarely eat that bitterball, but not never. Sometimes, like last week on Vlieland, there has to be a bowl of shrimp croquettes on the table with that nice glass of wine in the sun. But that's rare. A glass of wine at the right time, I really enjoy that.

Then I would probably take a flight to London. I really love that city. I'm a fan of Notting Hill, and I would go there to have lunch and shop and just stroll around. After a day in London, I would fly back to Amsterdam and enjoy a day at the spa in the Conservatorium Hotel.

In that case, I would love to spend the weekend on a beach in Ibiza with my husband and kids, family, and friends. Everyone I love together. Wonderful. In the evening, I would dance the night away with Guy and friends or spend it in one of the nice restaurants on the island.
But I wouldn't turn down a little trip with Guy (my husband) to New York either. Just strolling through the streets of NY together and having long and lazy lunches and dinners at nice hotspots and lounging in Central Park.

What time does your alarm clock go off again on Monday?

Way too early. Always. At 7 o'clock. But then I prefer to turn over for an extra little morning nap, because those are the best.
