– SELF-TANNERS FOR THE LEGS –

Two weeks ago, when the sun peeked through the clouds, everyone immediately thought it was high summer. May immediately declared she would no longer wear stockings, and I seriously saw someone cycling in shorts. I found that quite ridiculous, as the temperatures were still around freezing in the morning and the legs were so dreadfully white that they were actually not presentable to the outside world yet. I am going to do something about that now. Read the tips, buy some products, and then just hope very hard that the sun keeps shining and the temperatures are a bit more pleasant.

Preparation is half the work

So cliché, but so true. For a self-tanner, you need to take some time. You don’t want any streaks, you don’t want an orange glow, and you definitely don’t want half results to repeat this little routine. Scrub your skin well beforehand. Dead skin cells wash down the drain, and therefore the self-tanner cannot adhere to the dead skin cells, preventing streaks, spots, or other issues.

Apply earlier

Apply everything well in advance (a few days beforehand, not just before you start applying the self-tanner). Your skin will then be well-nourished, allowing the color to be absorbed much more evenly.

Use a glove

I was at a presentation by Marc Inbane two weeks ago, a nice brand for self-tanners, and they recommended always applying with a glove. This way, you get the most beautiful and even result, and you also don’t have those orange palms. The gloves from Marc Inbane are black, which is really nice because you don’t see those dirty stains.

Aftercare

Yes, this point is sometimes forgotten due to busyness and stress, but it is very important. Immediately remove the color from the spots where you don’t want it. Use body lotion to dilute the self-tanner a bit and then wipe a towel over it. No more issues with uneven spots.

Build up the color

If you think you achieve a nicer and faster result by applying large amounts, you are mistaken. I made the mistake two weeks ago for the Look of the Year awards. At a presentation, I was sold a product that would give me an Ibiza tan overnight. I was up for it because I naturally wanted a nice color. After heavy spraying (I thought; I’ll do a little extra because a tan seems really nice), I indeed had an Ibiza tan. However, the next morning I looked like an oompa-loompa with carrot skin. After heavy scrubbing and the skills of Dior, there was nothing to see that evening, but it was a learning point. So work in layers. Only after 2 hours do you really see results. Building up is therefore the best, and excess is harmful.

Now you probably want to know which products you need to get to really achieve those brown legs under a skirt. Here’s the problem. See below for the best under the sun.
