THE FASHION HARVEST FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

There used to be something really ‘in fashion’. We all walked with the checkered pattern, without exception wore a lift skirt (remember that skirt that was pulled up on one side with a cord) one or red was the color you couldn't avoid.

Fortunately, that's no longer the case and we are presented with an extensive fashion buffet where we can all fill our own plates. Still, at every fashion week there are trends that come back with multiple designers and where you almost think they brainstormed together. Not so, it just hangs in the air.

The cape sleeve

I first saw it at the SuperTrash show and thought it was a brilliant find. It looks like you're casually wearing your coat over your shoulders (a typical outfit of fashion boys and girls) but you just have your arm through the sleeve so you can move and possibly, possibly, you know, possibly carry a heavy shopping bag without losing your jacket.

After SuperTrash, I saw it at Jason Wu and Michael Kors and something tells me we will encounter this fashion discovery more often.

The muff

Before I left for New York, I went to Danie Bles's vintage store because I was looking for a muff. You know, a fun fur ‘tunnel’ where you put both hands in and then hold it beautifully in front of your belly. Carrie wore it in the last season of Sex and the City and it seemed perfect to make the cold a bit cozy. I was at Michael Kors yesterday and what do I see; the muff. In many forms. Where can I order?

Flat at the foot, low to the ground

From the flat boot at Boss Women to the boyish flat shoe at Michael Kors (which you have to wear with a short sock and therefore must combine with a very feminine outfit, otherwise it won't work) via the folded slippers at Proenza Schouler to the ugly, sorry but I can't make anything else of it, clogs from Alexander Wang... Flat is the word. Prepare for a comfortable winter. Who said that fashion and comfort couldn't go together?

Hair in a ponytail

At Michael Kors, hairstylist Orlando Pita created a just out of bed look. At Boss, the hair was brushed tightly along the head and the ponytail sat low in the neck, and Victoria Beckham crafted a bun where the ponytail came out at the bottom. The ponytail is in hand then. And go ahead and buy invisible hair ties because you're going to need them.
