5 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE SELFIE

The selfie is all around us. Even my mother takes them. And Jet's.. Although with varying results. The selfie phenomenon is now even being used to attract more young people to museums. Because it doesn't actually differ that much from a self-portrait from the seventeenth century. The craft differs, the idea is the same.

We think the selfie has no secrets for us, but bet you didn't know this?

1.     So far, twelve people have died ‘as a result of a selfie’. Think of cliffs, passing cars, that sort of thing. For comparison: this year only seven people died from a shark bite. So, a selfie is life-threatening.

2.     There is a man in India who wants to break the world record for taking selfies in one hour. To achieve that, he will have to take more than 1800. That comes down to thirty selfies per minute. So two seconds per selfie. Good luck with that. The best man has also quit his job to practice.

3.     Kim Kardashian didn't really sell that well with her selfie book ‘Selfish’. 125,000 copies. That seems like a lot, but given her following and international domination, I find it a bit disappointing.

4.     Cristiano Ronaldo really wanted to break the world record for selfies in three minutes. But that didn't work out. He would have had to take more than 105, and he didn't, but wrestler Dwayne Johnson did.

5.     Selfie sticks are banned in quite a few museums. Still at fashion shows, please, thank you.
