This is how I feel after my detox

A little earlier than planned

It's done. For four days I have been very obedient to the menu and it actually went quite well for me. Except for a few grumpy moods here and there and some rumbling stomachs. You know what it's about and that it's temporary, so it all seems manageable. But on day 5 (that was Friday and you all know what incredibly nice weather it was, right?) I gave it a bit of my own twist. In the afternoon, I started seeing little spots from the heat and just no solid food, so it crossed my mind a few times: what the hell am I doing? I stubbornly held on until the end of the afternoon, but then I thought it was enough.

I rushed to my favorite salad bar and bought a bottle of wine (after one sip, I actually saw even more spots). It all tasted so good and I felt that my detox week was finally over.

Effect

I had definitely felt the detox effect. My skin was glowing, I sometimes had a hint of energy (not always though) and I felt somehow very powerful or something. Or well, how should I describe it, I just felt good in my skin. For your body, it's tough and very hard work, but still, I find not having meat, fish, dairy, and who knows what else quite nice for a while. At least, that applies to me.

Easy detox

But I must honestly admit that you can also create a detox with solid food yourself, which would make it a lot more bearable. I will write a piece about that for you guys sometime. But well, a little course at JuiceBrothers is of course just incredibly easy, luxurious, and then my diva behavior might come into play a bit.

One more time?

It's no small feat what you're asking of your body; just liquid food is heavy stuff. Do realize that before you start something like this. You also need to think carefully about why you're doing it. You know, losing a kilo is indeed true and it makes sense (hello, you're living on juices for five days), but I would strongly advise you not to let that be the reason. Why not? After the weekend, it will come back anyway. And then you might be really upset about it. It is a very good reset for your body, I really believe in that. Just back to basics for a bit, you get good energy from it and you also enjoy everything you eat a lot after the detox. And we sometimes forget that. The conscious eating.
