A heartfelt word from Jet

This is what cola does to you

So, I'm going to scare a few girls here at the office a bit. I'm going to talk about cola. Many times, ice-cold mini cans of cola (light, of course) are taken out of the fridge. I stumbled upon an article that told me that besides an incredible amount of sugar there are a lot of other things in it that your body doesn't like. Look, I don't really know if it's all true and stuff, but I have an enormous need to share it with you.

There are about ten teaspoons of sugar in a glass of cola. Hallelujah.

Your blood sugar level shoots up like crazy, and that's not really the intention. By keeping your blood sugar level low, you have less craving for sweets and less trouble with sugar binges. The shot of insulin that you get in your body converts a lot of the sugar into fat.

It seems that you also get a kind of dopamine boost. That means you become a sort of fake happy and energetic and that's comparable to drugs.

The caffeine in cola absorbs after about half an hour, and as a result, your blood pressure rises, and in response, your liver dumps more sugar into the bloodstream. In your brain, the so-called adenosine receptors are blocked. This results in you feeling awake and alert. Again, all fake.

Cola is addictive. When the sugar rush is over (which makes you feel a bit energetic and happy), you become grumpy and tired again, so you take another cola, and then all that badness starts again.

So girls, I promise to make fresh lemonade, with sparkling water, then you still have a bit of fizz and I will definitely make it sweet. And then, take a walk, give a hug, kiss someone, do something fun. That will also make you very happy and energetic.
