This way, Jet stays healthy, fit, and happy

“Jet, how do you do that? I really admire how you live and all.” I hear it often enough. It’s a way of life (terrible phrase, but I just don’t know how else to put it). Seriously, you really don’t make me happy with a cream cake or fries after the disco. For some reason, I’ve never had that, and I just happen to be incredibly happy with pure food and an hour of sweating in the gym. After that, I will definitely go out with my friends. Don’t worry.

The dairy brand Campina interviewed me about my healthy lifestyle, because nothing is necessary, but I can recommend it to everyone.

Good for mood, mind, skin, and hair

Jet is as a ‘health editor’ an expert in the field of a healthy lifestyle. Exactly the person Campina is looking for to tell them more about the combination of nutrition and sports during the National Sports Week. This enthusiastic boxer is bursting with energy and is eager to share her healthy lifestyle. She doesn’t preach, everyone should just do what they want, but that she knows what she wants… that is clear.

Jet has been raised with healthy food: “My mother taught me to cook very pure. Never from packages, not even salad from a bag but buying and washing a head of lettuce myself. That gave me a good foundation. I’ve also read dozens of nutrition bibles. I eat very consciously but I do allow myself everything. It has certainly taken a few years to adjust, but it’s very important that you don’t deny yourself anything.

The Schijf van Vijf is according to the ‘health editor’ a great basis that everyone can still rely on: “Vegetables and fruit, everyone knows that, and dairy is of course inextricably linked to us Dutch. Everyone just drinks milk and I think no Dutch person can live without cheese. I notice that I feel really good with dairy. In the morning, I enjoy thick yogurt or quark with a lot of fruit, I find that super tasty. And also perfect after an early training, because then I replenish my proteins and calcium in a delicious way. I also train quite hard with boxing and interval training. Those proteins are good for your muscle building and strong muscles.”

Box for an hour and…

Jet exercises to stay slim but also definitely for her ‘mind’: “I clear my head with sports and feel very strong and good about it. I really love running. In addition, I now train at a gym with a nice circuit that also includes boxing. Just an hour of boxing is really the remedy for everything. Whether you feel worthless or really good; box for an hour and you’ll feel on top of the world! Really, it’s so wonderful. Additionally, I also find yoga very nice to do occasionally for relaxation.”

Jet prefers to exercise in the early morning: “When the alarm goes off, I always think no way, but once I’m on the bike, I’m looking forward to it. You’re top fit and cheerful all day, and you can still enjoy the terrace and do things in the evening because you’ve already exercised. And in the evening, you have a greater chance of skipping because you’ve already had a long day, are tired, and think you don’t have the energy for it anymore.‘

“Just dream away for a bit”

While exercising, Jet keeps a close eye on herself: “I’m always quite happy with mirrors. I’m not as incredibly vain as some of those guys in the gym who keep looking at their muscles. For me, it does have a bit of vanity, but it’s mainly very functional. If you’re doing weird exercises with weights above your head, you can use that mirror to check if you’re doing the exercises correctly. I really enjoy working out alone and not having to consider anyone else. Then I can really just dream away.”

Croquettes, beer, and Venus shells

Almost half of all sporting Dutch people allow themselves an unhealthy snack after exercising. Jet allows them that too, but she can’t think of it herself: “If you’ve played football and want to drink a beer, fine. There’s of course a big difference between people who exercise for fun and team spirit and those who do it for their health like I do. Diving straight into the fryer seems extreme to me, but I do think you should be able to reward yourself. A beer or a glass of wine should be fine after exercising. I’d rather have a pasta vongole, by the way. I actually find a bitterball really disgusting.

Okay, to make a long story short; I absolutely don’t want to preach, but I am sooo convinced that every body and every mind benefits from healthy eating and enjoyable exercise. Even if you don’t want to lose weight, it’s just very good for your mood and your mind, your skin and your hair, and everything actually.”
