Vacation in one day
Imagine you've been a bit too greedy on net-a-porter.com or you've sold all your vacation days to your employer to do something Very Important (buy a bag), but you really need a vacation, then I have the solution. Namely, vacation in one day. Sometimes that's all you need to relax or clear your head, and here's how you do it., Monday or Friday.
When I returned broken and half sick
from Paris and then immediately rolled into the Look of the Year Awards (champagne included), I was exhausted on Saturday and still dead tired on Sunday. So I took Monday off and it was quite a party. I had slept in that weekend, so on that Monday I got up pretty early (half past 9) and did whatever I felt like all day. Playing in the Bijenkorf. , watching some series, having lunch out, drinking coffee with a friend, and watching even more series in the evening. So take a day off on Monday or Friday, then you have three days of weekend and that already feels like a mini-vacation for the price of one day off., Get up a bit early.
Because what good is your day off if you stay in bed stinking until 2 PM? Such a waste. 10 AM seems like a nice time, then you have that well-rested feeling but still have something to do with your day.
Think about what you want to do.
What do you really feel like doing, but never get around to? Binge-watching series? Reading that stack of books? Devouring magazines? Cleaning out your closet? Scouring furniture stores? Make a little plan in advance, because just having a whole day off can also lead to boredom.
Do something with a spa.
A visit to a spa doesn't necessarily make me happy, but hordes of women brag about it. And I get the idea of relaxation and pampering, so book a spa day and according to most of the world, you'll feel reborn.
Book a hotel.
For one night, that is. Check in around noon and let room service pamper you all day while you lie in the big soft duvet bed. Have dinner in the hotel bar (or in your room, of course) and enjoy a drink, so you can bike back to work super rested the next morning.
A day in Paris.
You take the 8 AM train to Paris, arrive at Gare du Nord at 11 AM, so you can sit at
the terrace of L’Avenue for lunch with lots of white wine at noon. You stroll down Avenue Montaigne for a little window shopping (or for some, a real shop) at Givenchy, Céline, or Balenciaga and then walk via Ladurée on the Champs-Elysées to the Tuileries where you sit on a bench in the sun and look around because hello, you're in Paris. The walk continues to Rue Saint Honoré and then especially the terrace of Café Ruc for a glass of ridiculously expensive but ridiculously delicious white wine. From there, you walk in half an hour to the station where the last train takes you back to the Netherlands at half past 7. Imagine you've been a bit too greedy on net-a-porter.com, or you've sold all your vacation days to your employer to do something Very Important...
