Hoe je je haar doet
Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande are definitely the style icons I have to mention with this look. We know the big hair from the sixties, but it now has a touch of 2015. With Jennifer and Ariana, it doesn't seem to be stiff with hairspray (seems, right?), but dances in all directions. And since we also don't mind a bit of volume, a bit of wave, and especially an incredibly cool look, Rachel from The Building AMS has laid it all out for you.
Braiding
Since you want the look to maintain a lot of volume and not collapse like a pudding after an hour, you first apply mousse all over the hair. This gives it firmness. Especially if you dry it a bit with a hairdryer, because then the product works even better.
Extensions
It's not that all of Ariana and Jennifer's hair is their own, you know. A bit of hair is used here and there. You can buy loose extensions that have clips. Ideal for a party when you want to give your hair more volume. Just make sure you place the extensions in the right spot. It really doesn't look nice if you can see them. Tease the roots where you attach them to your ‘real’ hair and spray some hairspray there. Then click them in place. Now they stay in much better.
Curling iron
Start at the bottom. Take sections from the roots and twist the curl to the tip. Secure it with a clip. This way it can cool down and the curl stays nicely shaped. Also spray some hairspray on each section for firmness. Start at the bottom and work your way up. That works better. Also for securing.
Teasing
Once the curls have cooled down, tease each section at the roots. Then spray some hairspray over it again (see, it is there!), and gently brush everything into one whole..
Finishing touch
Finally, take a small triangle of hair from the front. With this, you make a small ponytail with a small elastic. Wrap a piece of your own hair around the elastic to hide it. Finish off with a lot of hairspray. The trick to not making it look sticky and still letting it dance; don't spray too close. 30 cm away does the same job, but makes it look so much prettier.
