There I was. Alone and dazed, poking a fork into my own wedding cake. In the background, I heard the murmur of our guests enjoying large red glasses of wine and Italian delicacies at the beautiful dining tables adorned with flowers and thousands of candles. Too busy with each other and completely unaware that I was sitting at that same table in a wedding dress, lost and abandoned with the wedding cake. The groom didn't show up, the music never started, and it was pouring rain from the sky. I felt like Rose from Titanic. You know, that scene before she dramatically runs to the end of the ship to take an eternal dive into the sea. Luckily, Rose was saved by Leo, and I was saved by the alarm clock.

Breathe in. And out. I am awake and that wasn't real. But this nightmare is proof that the starting gun for wedding hysteria has been fired. My head is spinning and as soon as I open my laptop, it goes from “catching up on overdue emails” to “looking at wedding pictures, visiting blogs, taking notes, pinning, and saving photos as”. And before I know it, my beloved is already in front of me and the potatoes need to be on the table.

So this wedding plan of ours is costing me my sleep and my work. But I have now become the Big Brother of ‘real weddings’. My favorite category: looking at pictures of how others have done it. Here’s a look at my daily activity: the very best websites for wedding photos of real weddings that make your day more enjoyable (whether you are getting married or not).

The Lane

No cheesy light pink wedding scenes or pouf dresses. No. The weddings on this website are what you want. Sophisticated weddings and beautiful pictures of them. A lot of ‘destination weddings’ by the way. Thus, an abundance of inspiration.

A Practical Wedding

As the name suggests, this website is practical. The published weddings have titles like “Organized in 6 weeks” or “How we had our dream day with 8k”. And yes, in the wedding business, that can be enlightening. Because everything looks beautifully perfect on all those websites, but (as it should be) money is not discussed. Here it is.

Bo & Luca

Okay, this is not a typical wedding website. Bo & Luca make the most beautiful wedding dresses and accessories (definitely a recommendation for those looking for special pins, earrings, and more). But, the Bo & Luca blog is definitely the place where you want to get inspired. The so-called Bo & Luca brides are all special and also provide an overview of the best places and photographers from South Africa, should you want to get married there (or dream about it). Definitely check out their Pinterest account.

Donna Morgan

Okay, this is absolutely not my cup of tea. But I find it hilarious! Lots of bridesmaids. All in the same pouf dress. Radiant bride in the middle with too white teeth and too tight curls, but... oh so happy. And that's what it's about. Just an out-of-the-box website and for me definitely a ‘not how I want it”.

Style Me Pretty

One of the most well-known in this business is still Style Me Pretty. With not only a huge amount of information but also an enormous database of photo reports of ‘real weddings’. To keep you busy for hours.
