WHAT TO DO ABOUT SWEATY FEET

If you open the freezer in our New York apartment , it might be that you faint immediately. There lies a pair of shoes that emits such an intensely foul odor that no human can tolerate that stench. I won't say whose they are (but her name starts with a J and ends with et), but The Internet told us that stinky shoes smell less if you put them in the freezer overnight.

Well, I can tell you, we could have left them in the freezer for a century – that smell is not coming out. The lady bought them new but thought it was a good idea to wear them without socks, so that's a hopeless case. But because of this affair, I spent hours searching for a solution and came across a lot of handy things that you might also find useful during your next city trip to a warm country.

The freezer

Yes, this really seems to work but is a lost cause in hopeless cases. Put the stinky shoes in a plastic bag, place them in the freezer, and due to the cold, the bacteria die, and the shoes come out fresh the next day.

Let them air out

Pretty obvious, but you forget it quickly. Instead of kicking your shoes into a corner after a long day of walking, place them on the roof or balcony so nature can do its work. If possible, also take the insoles out of your shoes and make sure everything is really dry.

Switch them up

Don't wear the same shoes every day, but alternate them regularly. I'm really bad at this; I only have one pair of flat shoes with me here in New York, so I fear that pair won't smell like flowers by the end of the week either.

Vanilla sugar

We still need to try this option, and if that doesn't work either, Jet will throw the stinky shoes in the trash. Place bags of vanilla sugar in your shoes and leave them there for about 3 days. Vanilla sugar is sweet, and that scent should neutralize the sweaty smell.

Sudocrem

Prevention is better than cure, so be smart and make sure you don't get stinky shoes at all. Applying Sudocrem to your feet every day for a week is said to ensure that even the most intense stinkers stop producing odor.

Jet, were you paying attention? Thank you.
