WORKING OUT IN FRONT OF THE TV
It's not that I feel like working out every day. Sometimes I have to really push myself and there are even times I just skip it all together. If you really don't want to work out, why on earth would you torture yourself by going anyway? You know what? You can even do a workout on the sofa, right there in your living room. I'll share a few exercises with you that are very effective. Well they are if you do them successively and don't quit after five minutes. And even if you take shortcuts at least you'll feel as if you've put in some effort. That's worth something I'd say.
So hop onto the sofa, turn on the TV, tune into your favourite series, a music channel or the cooking channel (my favourite).
- To warm up we're going to do some knee lifts. You know those, right?
- Doing a Sun salutation afterwards won't do any harm either. Look here for instructions make sure you have enough space and it's nice to have a mat, much more comfortable than the carpet.
- You can also do a series of lunges or squats: 20 squats, 20 lunges and 15 seconds of nothing. Then you start over. Do this three times. Hold a stack of heavy books in your hands to make it more challenging. By the way you can keep watching TV while you do all of this. Oh and touch the sofa with your bottom when doing the squats.
- Now sit on the edge of your sofa placing your hands along side of you, your fingers facing forward (in the direction of the TV). Stretch your legs to the max and lower your bottom to the floor. Keep your hands on the sofa and use them to lift yourself up again. Get it? Do this 30 times, 15 second rest and repeat two more times. Okay? This one's really good for arms and buttocks.
- You can do the same exercise with your legs in a 90 degree angle, just look at the picture below.
Well, break a leg!
