5 reasons why sitting on a ball is good for you

+ exercises

Here on the editorial there are quite a few balls floating around, I mean to sit on. We started with pink ones, but I believe May has hidden those somewhere because she didn't find them nice to look at. I obviously disagreed, so I immediately purchased other (somewhat fancier) balls. They were allowed to stay. They are from Technogym and are quite comfortable. They even arrived inflated, which saves a lot of pumping, I can tell you. You do have to get used to sitting on such a thing, but it seriously has a lot more advantages than a normal office chair.

Positive point 1

When you sit in an office chair, you are more likely to roll around comfortably instead of just walking to the printer or to the mirror for a quick makeup touch-up (that's a standard ritual of Liesbeth). With a ball, that's harder, so you get up much faster for a little walk.

Positive point 2

Sitting on such a ball is good for your core stability (the stability of the torso), as the ball requires a straight back. It's almost impossible to slouch a bit. By sitting upright this way, you naturally get a nice posture when you stand up again.

Positive point 3

You are much more alert because you are constantly aware of how you are sitting and you correct yourself in the process. And because you can wobble quite nicely on such a ball, it also prevents you from really slumping.

Positive point 4

The constant wobbling engages your back and abdominal muscles. So they also get stronger.

Positive point 5

And lastly: you can also do some little exercises in between, like tossing the ball a bit with your colleague. That works perfectly against the four o'clock slump. Just look at all the exercises I've gifted you above.
