X-mas with the stars

with Jetteke van Lexmond

It still takes twelve full days until Christmas, but stylist Jetteke van Lexmond has already laid out her Chanel dress and is now, yes indeed now, already busy with the Christmas dinner.

Hoe ziet jouw Kerst er dit jaar precies uit? Vertel me alles!

“We are celebrating Christmas Eve this year at Alex's brother and his partner's place. They always make it something incredibly special. Alex and his brother cook, my in-laws are there, and the tree and decorations are always a spectacle. Then we celebrate Christmas Day at my father and mother's in my childhood home. The whole family comes: grandma and her twin sister, my twin brother with his few weeks old son, and Lieke and her handsome men Vik and Bas. This year, Italian is on the menu and we all make a dish. Additionally, we draw lots and for that person, you buy a gift and write a poem or a nice letter. I can tell you: tears in abundance, every year again.’

Wat is je mooiste, liefste kerstherinnering?

“A white Christmas, fireplace on, games, Christmas breakfast, and beautiful music on.”

Online for the fun Christmas pictures, scrolling through Instagram and WhatsApping with your friends or offline with friends and family?

“I absolutely send sweet messages to people who are dear to me, but I try not to be too busy with social media and focus mainly on beautiful moments with my family, friends, and relatives.”

Welke boeken liggen er op je te wachten?

“All the new magazines that are out. Favorites are Vogue USA, Vogue UK, Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, Porter Magazine, Rika Magazine, and Vogue Netherlands.”

Wat hoop je stiekem onder de boom te vinden dit jaar?

“A vacuum cleaner. Actually, it's a handheld vacuum but with a long stick. Also a Byredo candle 1996 and something from Chanel.”

Which Christmas movie are you going to watch for the 87th time this year?

“The kids love Home Alone and I love The Holiday.”

Met z’n allen aan het kerstdiner, hoe ziet je playlist er uit?

“Diana Krall's ‘A case of you’, John Lennon with ‘Imagine’ and John Legend and Joni Mitchell. Furthermore, beautiful classical film music and of course, let's not forget the typical Christmas music.”

Wat ga je zelf eigenlijk koken? En wat wordt daarbij geschonken?

“We are making a green salad with lots of fresh herbs and pomegranate, along with a nice fresh pasta with white truffle and a good glass of wine.”

Which Christmas cliché do you think is really outdated?

“I love clichés. Christmas stands for peace, love, and being together with the people you love a lot. And yes, that tree of course, the beautiful letters we make for each other, enjoying meals together, and preferably all of that while it snows and the fireplace crackles nicely inside.”

In your comfy outfit on the couch or dressed up at the table?

“A nice outfit, but it has to be comfortable. I have a beautiful Chanel dress ready this year and I’ll take flat shoes or rain boots for the walk.”

De deur uit of de hele dag op en rond de bank?

“Mainly playing a lot of indoor games and having nice conversations, but there is always a long walk in nature on the agenda.”
