Breakfasting out and eating oysters in the evening sun, I don't need much more than that. Well, nothing more needed... But believe me, I am really in a state of intense happiness.

I share my favorite spots with you. Bring your boy here, or your girlfriends of course, and who knows, I might run into you.

As I said before, I find breakfasting out one of the nicest things there is.

When I'm in another city, I wouldn't quickly have breakfast in my own hotel, because you're often stuck in such an incredibly boring room. I'd rather go out; somewhere looking for scrambled eggs or croissants among the locals. In Amsterdam, on the other hand, I actually really enjoy stepping out of my own bed in the morning to then step into a hotel lobby for a fresh grapefruit juice and take a look at the buffet.

Usually, a hotel is quite a barrier to breakfasting because you might think it's only for hotel guests. But that doesn't have to be the case at all. Okay, making an omelet at home is indeed a lot cheaper, but sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself, right?

The Dylan Hotel

Maybe it's also because I worked there that I feel quite at home. This week I ordered two poached eggs with salmon. Man, so simple, but so incredibly delicious and you seriously get a half day ahead. For me, an excellent start to the day.

The Lobby

A bowl of farmer's yogurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit. Seriously, you can't make it this good at home.

5&33

Just leave the menu aside and dive into the buffet. The tastiest smoothies, mueslis, and an awful lot of fine sweet pastries.

Preferably somewhere in a bit of a busy spot where there are many passersby. It always looks so nice.

Restaurant Braque

This is quite a large restaurant in De Pijp, but they only have two small benches in front of their door, so you have to be quick. Especially since the evening sun shines there, it's a popular spot. But if you sit there with a half dozen oysters in front of you, then I am a very satisfied person.

Restaurant Forno

This is located on a cozy square with a vegetable vendor and in a neighborhood with many strollers near Vondelpark (I love that). You order oysters by the piece and I know it might not be the right combination, but with an Aperol Spritz, it feels like I'm on vacation.

Carter Bar & Kitchen

Here too is a small strip of terrace where you can sit, and I always find that a bit romantic. Now, I am really absolutely not a fan of bitterballen (also croquettes and such; I don't like them at all), but on this menu, there are lobster bitterballen from Holtkamp. Well, you can carry me away.
