10 X CHRISTMAS SONGS
FOR YOUR PLAYLIST
Holly jolly news, because it's December 6th. And do you know what that means? Christmas songs! Your editors have been humming (listening, that is) illegal Christmas songs for about three weeks now, but now Saint Nicholas is on his way back, we officially open the Christmas song season. And that's why we have a list to get your Spotify into the Christmas spirit.
1. Being Alone At Christmas
So this is the new one from Miss Montreal. It's nice. A fine mix of some jingle bells and her golden sound. And it's about how being alone at Christmas isn't so crazy after all. An uplifting affair, then.
And not just All I Want For Christmas Is You, even though this remains the classic. Don't forget Baby, Please Come Home, it's at least just as good. Really, that woman's voice is pure Christmas song porn.
3. Why Couldn’t It Be Christmas Everyday
The one by Bianca Ryan, for the high note. You'll just want to throw your hands in the air and dance hard on your desk.
4. Driving Home For Christmas
And then immediately ask about the well-known road, because this little tune can't be pushed off the number one spot on any Christmas list. I always picture a snow-covered highway where everyone is stuck in an endless traffic jam. Anyway, Chris Rea rocks Christmas.

5. Everything by Michael Bublé
May and Michael are a match for Christmas. But his repertoire is also extremely Christmas-worthy. Just listen to Blue Christmas, it's deeeelicious.
6. Santa Baby
This is my ultimate favorite in December. And please the original by Eartha Kitt (even though Michael does a great rendition, May). As if the grandeur of a salon in 1953 is coming out of your speakers, but a bit naughty.
7. Last Christmas
Sweet is a must. So Wham! How hard is it, really, that you break a heart at Christmas. Life is sometimes a bit of a bitch, even during the holidays.
8. Do They Know It’s Christmas
Yes, this one belongs here. It's thanks to Band Aid, of course, and all the good it does in Africa. During the last gathering for a fundraiser, among others, Bono (of course), One Direction, Rita Ora, and Chris Martin from Coldplay got behind the microphone.
9. Thank God it’s Christmas
Queen rocks Christmas a bit more literally than Chris Rea. But they keep it festive, with lots of ‘thank Gods’.
10. Dear, dear Flappie
I was just about to be chased out of the editorial office, but for me, Flappie belongs to Christmas like Youp belongs to the New Year's conference. ‘And there he lay in three pieces.‘ And then that cheerful bit from Youp on Boxing Day about that barn and his dad, I love it.
And, what are your favorites among the Christmas songs? Because your editors are insatiable when it comes to Christmas songs.
