10X WHY A HALF-NIGHT STAND IS A BETTER IDEA
There you are in the early Monday morning train to Amsterdam, hoping that none of your colleagues who live in Utrecht happen to take an earlier train. Exactly, to save yourself that mega embarrassing makeup-free (and hungover) moment. Personally, I'm not into one night stands at all, something about being an emotional person and not wanting to lie next to a stranger. But there is indeed a real new trend going on..
If you've ever had a one night stand you know that the morning after can be a bit awkward. The solution? According to Huffington Post, the ‘half-night stand’ is the new outcome. You don't stay over at your sex buddy's place, but go home right after the deed to fall asleep comfortably in your own bed. This is how sex therapist Celeste Hirschman explains it: ‘If you don't want more than just a roll in the hay with that catch of the night, why would you stay over in a strange bed? It's nicer to just fall asleep in your own bed so you wake up fresh the next day.’ Well, there's something to that...
The benefits of a half-night stand at a glance
1. You avoid a sleepless night. I don't know about you, but I always toss and turn all night in a strange bed (and next to a strange body) staring at the ceiling.
2. You don't have to search for the toilet in the dark in the middle of the night. Or worse: having to hold it all night because you're afraid to leave the bed, scared that you'll wake him up, uhh, make him wake up.
3. You don't have to wait for him to wake up the next morning.
4. Or leave the house very quietly without waking him up.
5. You don't have to squeeze yourself into the same (going out) clothes from the night before.
6. He doesn't have to admire you the next morning with panda eyes.
7. You don't have to leave the house in the early morning with unbrushed teeth.
8. A kiss, no kiss, how do you greet each other when opening your eyes... Awkward.
9. You save yourself that uncomfortable moment when leaving. ‘Bye, shall we call?’, ‘It was fun, uh...’
10. If the sex wasn't good, you don't have to do it again, the morning after...
I believe I'll skip this trend for now...
