17 X DIET TIPS FROM OUR ANGELS

The fashion show of the year is coming up again. And this time you don't have to crawl next to your love on Boxing Day with a guilty conscience and a held-in stomach (by the way, how do you come up with the idea to broadcast half-naked beauties for two hours while you're stuffed on the couch, I call it quite unfriendly to women). This coming Wednesday night, you can enjoy the tight tanned buttocks of our Romee from your bed, in the dark (muahaha). I'm of course talking about the Victoria’s Secret show.

Of course, just like me, you want to know the secret behind those divine tight bodies of the Angels. That requires some serious training. But that's not all. We all know that abs are made in the kitchen (been there done that, hell of a job, believe me). Want to lose a few pounds before Christmas? These 17 tips come from the most beautiful angels on the catwalk.

1. Protein for breakfast

A protein-rich breakfast gives you a feeling of fullness. Proteins ensure that our metabolism speeds up, they keep our muscles tight, and they also prevent cravings for sugar. A protein omelet with a hefty load of leafy greens is a favorite in model land.

2. Green juices

Juices are allowed, as long as they are green and don't contain too much fruit sugar. You’re really in if you go for Onisap. This is the fruit juice from the noni plant that grows in Polynesia. The juices boost your immunity, cleanse the liver, and increase your energy levels.

3. Avoid sugar

Sugar is a no-go in an angel diet. Sugar causes your skin to age faster and leads to overweight and low blood sugar levels.

4. Don't eat out

Dive into the kitchen yourself. This way, you know exactly what's in your meals. Restaurants often cook with a lot of oil, butter, and cream. Three products you definitely don't want to consume.

5. Listen to your body

Listening to your body is very important. Often we put something in our mouths purely out of boredom. Eat because you're hungry or have a glass of water.

6. Cheat

Don't be too hard on yourself. You can definitely have a treat now and then. But go for one piece of dark chocolate and not a bar of sea salt and caramel.

7. Small meals

Large meals create a bloated feeling and can make us sluggish and tired. Eat smaller meals more often throughout the day. This way, you maintain a feeling of fullness longer and therefore have more energy.

“It’s a hard knock life…”

8. Avoid alcohol

We know that we gain weight from alcohol, of course. Additionally, that glass of wine also causes your body to retain unnecessary water.

9. Low fat

Try to work with as little fat as possible. Grill your chicken in the grill pan and try to avoid dairy as much as possible. Abs are made in the kitchen and only appear when that layer of fat goes away.

10. Water

Drinking enough water gives you a feeling of fullness and helps eliminate waste. Is the water coming out of your ears? Try adding a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint.

11. Vegetables

Replace your plate of pasta or rice more often with carbohydrates from vegetables. Your body gets full faster and processes this more easily.

12. Eat organic

The pesticides found in many vegetables and fruits are bad for your liver. Additionally, research shows that consuming chemicals in pesticides contributes to fat storage in the body.

13. Avoid fast carbohydrates

These cause your blood sugar levels to spike and then crash hard, making you even hungrier. And thus you start snacking.

14. Go vegan

Angel Karlie recommends going vegan more often. Vegan food contains more vegetables and fruits, which our bodies can process more easily. Also, vegan dishes are lower in fat than animal dishes and give you a lighter feeling.

15. Make your portions smaller

Our own ex-Angel Doutzen also gives us a tip. Serve just one plate, this way your body gets used to ‘normal’ portions. Still hungry after eating? Then have a small bowl of low-fat yogurt. Proteins fill you up and also help your body recover from your workout.

16. Avoid salt

Salt makes your body retain water, which often makes you feel bloated and therefore heavier. Avoid salted products like cheese, soy sauce, and salted peanuts more often. By drinking enough water, you eliminate the excess water.

17. Nutrition for healthy skin

Instead of focusing on getting as few calories as possible, try focusing on healthy foods that make your skin more beautiful. Avocado, fatty fish, and nuts may contain more fat, but they do contribute to beautiful skin.
Nine days before the show, the angels reportedly only have protein shakes. And twelve hours before the show, no drinking is allowed to appear as dry as possible on the runway. It’s a hard knock life…
