4 CLOTHING ITEMS HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL

My beloved has it tough. He prefers to see me in a turtleneck sweater with good jeans and two flat, white Tod’s shoes underneath. But poor him, he has a girl in fashion and even though he moves quite well with it, some things really go too far for him.

1. Army print

Seemed nice to me. On jeans with a dark blue jacket over it. That could go right away. “I can handle a lot by now, but this…” Of course, I behaved. I didn't find it that special anyway.

2. Padded Fendi dress

On the last day of an exclusive clothing store, I scored a pure white Fendi dress worth 2500 for 500 euros. Happy as a child. Until I happily turned in front of the mirror with it for him. “Honey, you look beautiful. But in this dress, you look just like a polar bear.” Anyone interested in a vintage Fendi? Anyone?

3. Stain jeans

Just before the taxi picked us up to leave for JFK Airport, Jet and I were scouring SoHo. Actually looking for a gift for our men, we went to the Ralph Lauren store where we both fell in love with a denim splattered with paint. A bit Jackson Pollock but on a cheerful day, I should say. We had to have it. Jet just found one in her size, mine was sent to the Netherlands. Once home, there was disappointment.

Firstly, the sweet New York saleswoman forgot to remove the security tag, so I dare not shop with it for fear it will go off. Secondly, my love looked at me three times and said; “Nice pants… For when you’re doing renovations.” He also assumed that the pants in question were ‘a gift’ and to this day I haven't dared to tell him that I paid 280 dollars for them...

4. Chanel espadrilles

When I when I went to Paris to buy a new bag, two cheerful espadrilles also beckoned to me. Since I was already spending money so cheerfully, these could join in. Moreover, I was going to wear them Very Often this summer. I still plan to because I think they are really great. In my Chanel euphoria, he initially said nothing about it, but when I recently bought another summer shoe, he cautiously expressed that he found the Chanels just a bit too extravagant.

In such a case, there is only one thing to do. Keep shopping until you find something that makes you both happy and content.
