5X WHY YOU SHOULD LAY OFF ALCOHOL
In the almost three months that I've been working at Amayzine, one thing has become clear to me: alcohol is a permanent resident of model land. Personal breakfast from Tommy Hilfiger? Hatsekiedee, a glass of champagne to kick things off. Exclusive pre-sale of the Kenzo x H&M collection? Enter the overloaded trays with gin tonics. Add some visitor records (as a result of this piece) and the departure of our dear Jet (voilà), and before you know it, you're Jellinek-proof.
Now that everyone, I believe, likes me for who I am, my true nature can really come out and I’m starting the lobby to drink less.
Alcohol is secretly quite a sneaky bitch. One moment she’s super fun and makes you forget everything around you. Until the next morning. Not (okay, hardly) drinking really has a number of advantages.
1. You sleep better
As I said, alcohol is a nice sleep inducer. Sleep inducer yes, because halfway through the night you’re lying there worrying about your to-do list. If you leave that last glass, you’ll see that you wake up much more rested on Saturday morning.
2. Fewer binge eating episodes
May always asks her beloved what they ordered at FEBO (which happens once a year after a night of partying) and whether they ate it all. If you’ve been drinking, you’re hungry. And there’s no brake. Not really a perfect combination. And I haven’t even mentioned the greasy craving you have the next morning. Alcohol causes blood sugar fluctuations and thus hunger spikes. And did you know that each glass also contains a messy hundred calories?
“Alcohol is secretly quite a sneaky bitch.”
3. You lose the necessary kilos
Do you unknowingly have a glass almost every day? Then there’s a good chance you’ll lose some kilos if you leave the bottles, uh, I mean glasses, alone from now on. Just think of all those laps around Vondelpark you have to run to burn off those calories.
4. Perfect glow
Alcohol dries out your body and thus your skin quite a bit. Now you can go looking for the most moisturizing cream; tackling the cause might be an even better idea. Without alcohol, you’ll get your radiant skin back.
5. Adieu hormonal fluctuations
That glass of wine makes you a cozy, open person in the evening. Butrrr, said the health jehovah, alcohol affects your hormone balance and this causes hormonal fluctuations and believe me, your housemate won’t be very happy about that.
Sorry May and Rens, don’t shoot me, but someone has to say it.
