7 REASONS TO DO YOGA
If you are reading this, I have just arrived on the island of Ibiza. My first time ever (almost a shame). I'm not going to dance in front of a DJ booth, no, I'm mainly going to chill out a lot. In a yoga retreat to be precise, where I will sun greet for three hours a day, where extremely healthy meals will be cooked for me, and where my weekly schedule often tells me “you-time”. You understand, that sounds like music to my ears.
I scrolled through my Facebook feed and discovered an announcement from Happy Soul Travel for this retreat, with a great last-minute discount. I clicked on it and before I knew it, I had booked it. It came just in time. Sometimes you can really use a bit of yoga. And here's why.
- If you insanely busy you are in your head. It doesn't matter what about, but then a session of yoga is always a good idea. In the first lessons, it might still be difficult to fully relax and switch off everything happening around you. I had that too, I would spend the whole hour still thinking about the administration or “what should I cook?” or “shit, I have such a busy day tomorrow”. Just push through, don't give up after a few lessons, because the more you do it, the nicer it gets. You really notice that at some point you can fully relax.
- You fall asleep faster, because before going to sleep you can apply your yoga breathing exercises and that calms you down.
“Eventually, you will notice that you can also get a slim body from it”
- To be more satisfied with your body. Yoga sometimes sounds a bit airy-fairy and during a lesson it is important to “become one with yourself” and so on, but a bit of open-mindedness can't hurt, I think.
- You shouldn't do yoga to lose weight, you should mainly do it because you are interested in making it a lifestyle. Eventually, you will notice that you can also get a slim body from it.
- To become more flexible. Can't hurt, it seems to me.
- If you do a lot of yoga, you can also concentrate better. You can always use the exercises you use in class (breathing exercises, for example) somewhere else. At your desk, on the bike for a moment... Then you can close off for a bit and relax.
- You also get a nicer and stronger posture from it.
