From lukewarm wine to ice-cold wine

Did you buy a lovely bottle of wine, but are your guests already there before the wine is really cold enough? No panic! Wrap the bottle in kitchen paper. Soak that paper completely with water and place the wrapped bottle in the freezer for ten minutes. Ta-da, the wine can be poured.

Ripen fruit faster

Very simple: place a banana next to the other (still hard) fruit and the fruits will ripen within a day.

This way your pot never boils over

Place a wooden spoon across the pot and the water will never boil over. Handy, right?

You wouldn't think it, but pour boiling water into the ice cube tray. It freezes faster than when you do it with cold water. Really!

Do you want to know if the eggs are still fresh? You do this like this: place an egg in a glass of water. Does the egg sink? Then it is still fresh. Does the egg float? Then there is too much air in the egg and that means it is no longer fresh.
