I am a bad series watcher. I start, but I don't finish. I can never last longer than 10 minutes, then I just fall asleep. To the annoyance of my boyfriend by the way. Then the next day we have to rewind to the part he has already seen and that's okay once, but this happens every time. I've given up. The only series I've completely watched is Orange is The New Black. Insane. And now here are eight fun facts that I didn't know about this series and maybe you don't either. Great for a birthday.

1. The prison clothes they wear are real and were purchased in a real prison.

2. Laverne Cox, who plays the transgender Sophia, is also transgender in real life. In the episode where Sophia was still a man, she is played by Laverne Cox's brother, Marcus.

3. Miss Claudette was absent from the series for a while because she was in a coma due to a serious car accident.

4. Natasha Lyonne, who plays Nicky in the series, has also had a drug addiction in real life.

5. Daya is actually only two years younger than the actress who plays her mother.

6. Each actor spent a day shadowing a real inmate to prepare for the series.

7. Red is actually blonde.

8. Piper actually went on a hunger strike in the series to lose weight.
