9 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO WATCH ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

What are you supposed to do when the weather is dreary out and the beach and park are obviously a no-go? That's right. You go to the movies, order an XL batch of popcorn, stretch out your legs, turn your phone to silent and relax for about two hours or so. As a woman with kids, picking out a movie isn't always easy. Either I'll find it too childish, or it'll be too violent for the kids. I tried watching Harry Potter with my girls the other day but they've still got an irregular heartbeat.

But I found it. My hope in dark, gloomy and rainy days. But also when the sun is out because this is a movie you don't want to miss. Alice Through The Looking Glass is on it's way (release date in the States on May 26th). And you need to go for these reasons:

1. Alice in Wonderland is the most recognisable fairytale

Being eaten by a wolf or being inside a house full of candy might not be entirely realistic. But how often have you felt tiny in our massive world? At least once a week right?

2. Johnny Depp in another OTT role

You bet mister Depp helped out in his costume department because anything remotely similar to the word understated is a no go in his mood boards.

3. As are...

Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Anne Hathaway and Mia Wasikowska who had the wonderful role of Alice.

4. Alice is the most photogenic fairytale

Whereas other fairytales might be a little too childish to photograph, Alice is a feast for fashion photographers. Annie Leibovitz photographed the theme for Vogue US in 2003, the Russian Harper's Bazaar made an Alice shoot with Chloë Sevigny and the British Harper's did the same thing with one of their leading ladies Helena Bonham Carter. Want to make a bet that this movie is going to inspire you for a lot of outfits and Instagram posts?

5. Alice is a fairytale with a bonus

For kids it's an incredible story with talking rabbits, secret doors and magical drinks that make you shrink. But there is a second layer to the story about language, etiquette, logic (let's not forget that the story was written by a mathematician), sense and nonsense. There are also a lot of references to art and culture like paintings by Quintin Matsijs and a sentence (“Off with his head”) from Henry VI written by Shakespeare. And there you have it. A good portion of art and culture.

6. The talk of the town

In the States alone this movie is predicted to be in the top 10 highest grossing movies of 2016. It's safe to say you can call it a hit. A hit that you want to see. You want to be in the loop. To talk about it. But also because it's a beautiful, it's fairytale-esque and you'll be devoured into the story.

7. Because it's fun as a group

There's something in it for everyone. From your grandmother to your father to children; everyone is going to like it and you can make it as intelligent as you want.

8. We recognize ourselves in the theme

Racing against the clock is something that you can recognise in your daily routine but here, it's magnified onto a big screen which puts our coffee runs and deadlines into perspective.

9. The dress code

The Alice in Wonderland theme is still one of the most loved and best dress codes out there, so this is a movie you can't miss, in the name of fashion.
