9 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD SEE ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

What should a person do in this weather to entertain themselves a bit? Obviously not go to the beach or the park, so the cinema seems to be the only option. XL portion of popcorn, legs stretched out, phone on silent, and just two hours of nothing. For me as a woman with children, choosing the movie is not always easy. Either too childish for me, or too intense for them. I recently watched Harry Potter and the little ones still have an irregular heartbeat from it.

But I found it. My hope for dark, rainy days. And actually also for sunny days because you just want to see this movie. Alice Through The Looking Glass is coming. And you want, must, and shall go for these reasons.

1. Alice in Wonderland is the most recognizable fairy tale

Being eaten by a wolf or finding a candy house is not that realistic. But how often do you feel intensely small in an enlarged world? Almost every week at least once, right?

2. Johnny Depp in an over-the-top outfit

You can bet that Mr. Depp has been involved with his outfits and you can bet that the word understatement has not appeared in the mood board.

3. And what do you think of...

Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Anne Hathaway, and Mia Wasikowska who had the delightful task of playing Alice.

4. Alice is the most photogenic fairy tale

Where other fairy tales are just a bit too childish to photograph, Alice is fodder for fashion photographers. Annie Leibovitz photographed the theme for Vogue US in 2003, the Russian Harper’s Bazaar did an Alice shoot with Chloë Sevigny, and the English Harper’s did it with lead actress Helena Bonham Carter. Bet that watching the movie will inspire you in your outfits and your Instagram posts?

5. Alice is a fairy tale plus

For children, it is a special story with talking rabbits, secret doors, and drinks that make you small. But there is a second layer that deals with language, etiquette, logic (after all, the story was written by a mathematician), sense and nonsense. There are also many references to art and culture, such as to a painting by Quinten Matsijs and to a line (“Off with his head”) from Henry VI by Shakespeare. So you have also dutifully taken in your portion of art and culture.

6. This movie is being talked about

It is expected that the film will generate a staggering 60 million dollars in revenue in America alone this weekend. You can safely call that a hit. And a hit, you want to see. To talk about it, but mainly because it will be very beautiful, stunning, fairy-tale-like, and captivating.

7. Because you can go ‘en groupe’

Everyone takes their layer from the film. From grandma to dad to child, everyone will enjoy it here because you can make the film as intelligent as you want as a viewer.

8. We recognize ourselves in the theme

The race against the clock theme is something we recognize every day. We see it now so enlarged that it beautifully relativizes our own moments where we juggle with a café latte on the left, two children on the right, and three deadlines above us.

9. The dress code

The Alice in Wonderland theme is still one of the most beloved and fun dress codes, so you just have to go here, even if it's just in the name of fashion.

Then I have two more pieces of good news. In the category of anticipation, you can here watch the trailer and in the category of real fun, I get to give away two tickets for the movie. You just have to like us on Facebook and tell us why you absolutely must see this movie.

Alice Through the Looking Glass will be in theaters starting Thursday.
