A FLYING APARTMENT

Flying is a rather annoying activity for most of us. Because I assume that we all generally fly economy (except for the occasional upgrade) and thus always sit for hours with our knees in our necks, locked in a mega uncomfortable seat. And even IF you can fly business class, which is of course wonderful, you still sit (or lie) in a seat. For those who don't want any of that, have deep pockets, or endless flight miles, there is good news: with Etihad you can actually fly in an apartment. Oh yes, baby.

The announcement of this extremely luxurious way of flying came a few years ago, but since December, it's up and running. There are two extreme options; Etihad First Apartment and an Etihad Residence. The First Apartment is their answer to the new way of flying First Class, and you really have a small apartment with a large chair and a long sofa that transforms into a gigantic bed. That's totally insane, but you can also sleep in The Residence, and then you seriously have a suite with a living room, bedroom, and en suite bathroom. Oh, and a personal butler. And chef.

Does it cost? A one-way ticket from New York to Abu Dhabi will set you back about $32,000 for two people. Totally insane, of course, but, as Etihad says, still cheaper than renting a private jet. Now I think those extra zeros don't matter much if you're in this market at all, but hey, the rich have to stay rich, so who knows, this might be a great solution for many.

Here’s what The Apartment and The Residence look like inside.
