AM I GOING TO LEAVE TEAM HEEL FOR ONCE?

As you all know, the Amayzine editors are divided into two camps: team heel (May and yours truly) and team sneaker (Jet and Joss). And aside from the fact that May and I might take a little longer to trip to the bathroom, I have never considered buying sneakers. I love heels. Put on a pair of heels and life changes. I would never want to be without them.

Until the doorbell rang just now.

I rip open the package. It's Chuck Taylors from Converse. And now doubt sets in. Am I really going to cheat? Then with a cool pair of All Stars, I think. My Instagram feed has really been flooded with those sneakers lately. Special editions with fringes are being pulled out for festivals, short light versions under a small denim short on vacation... If you don't have them, you hardly participate with the fashion girls. Fuck, have I really been such an ostrich?

‘Never thought I would say this, but sneakers have their advantages’

I put them on. Hesitantly, I stand on one leg. The world is flat. I still go up on my toes. It doesn't look good. Well, you are really flat now... The hips seem a bit fuller. BUT this walks very differently. In fact: this walks heavenly. I can take on the world. And that's why I'm going to say something I've never done before, but after thorough fieldwork, I can conclude that wearing sneakers does have its advantages:

1. I can shop longer. Okay, never mind, I'm already convinced.

2. My walk to the metro suddenly becomes a lot more pleasant.

3. If I'm being chased by some creepy guy, I can just HOP on the sprinting. That becomes quite a tricky story when you're in team heel.

4. My brand new Dolce heels recently got completely ruined because they got stuck in the edge between the sidewalk tiles. That's miserable, I can tell you. Read here but.

5. In the editorial office, we have shopping editor Lil, who tells me how to style All Starries super cute.

Okay flat ones, I'm making an exception. You can stay. At least for the shopping sessions and festivals. And dear heels, don't get snobby and sour now. I'll make it up to you tomorrow. Promise.
