ANSWERS TO SILLY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE OLYMPIC GAMES
You really don't have to be ashamed, even if you watch every evening and night diligently, if you no longer remember exactly what our Dutch gymnast is called who won gold yesterday. Her name is Sanne Wevers. Please.
It's just so incredibly much that happens, so it's hard to keep track of everything. I forgive you. I did a round in the editorial office and asked about Olympic Games questions that not everyone dares to ask, so I can answer those (together with Google) and share that with you again. There, now we're all caught up and you can join the conversation without worry.
Until when do the Games actually last?
Good question! We can still win medals until August 21.
What do those rings in the Olympic logo actually represent?
They are five rings and they represent the unity of the five continents. Sigh, how beautiful.
What sports are played during the Olympic Games? Quite a lot, right?
That's right! 28 to be exact. Here they come: athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, archery, weightlifting, golf, handball, judo, canoeing, modern pentathlon, equestrian, rowing, rugby, fencing, shooting, diving, synchronized swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, gymnastics, field hockey, football, volleyball, water polo, cycling, wrestling, sailing, and swimming.
How much time difference is there with Rio?
In Rio, it is five hours earlier than in the Netherlands. Hence those mandatory night alarms of ours.
Are only Dutch people allowed in the Holland Heineken House?
Yes, that's correct. You can buy a ticket for 15 euros to get in.
And when are the next Games again?
In 2020. The athletes have four years to prepare for the next one.
And where are they flying to?
Tokyo, it is.
