BIKER BAGUETTE
The struggle is real, safely and completely bringing home a baguette on the bike. Breaking it in half before you get on the bike or letting it break itself during your bike ride home. Unfortunately, there is no other flavor. But no more longer. A French baker has put an end to the big baguette problem.
The so-called ‘biker baguette’ is the new hit in France.
Nicolas Le Darz, owner of Boulangerie Le Darz, started experimenting with the curved rolls after his father, an avid cyclist, came home for the thousandth time cursing and sighing with a broken baguette and crumbs that he found in his shoes. Nicholas launched the roll on Facebook and made quite a few new French friends. It is such a hit that the French baker can hardly keep up with production alone. Since the launch, about fifty copies are sold daily at the Le Darz household.
For folding the baguette, you pay 5 euro cents more. “Imagine folding 100 baguettes – it takes time, you know,” says Nicholas.
When will we spot the first biker baguette in Amsterdam?
