Carolien's fast lane life
Yes, another fresh weekday diary from our Carolien. Because you know: she never sits still…
After lying on the beach for four days, we really had to get to work in Curaçao. For the new magazine from Everon, Marly and I got to shoot a beautiful sexy shoot, and it turned out sexy, I tell you! And we really had to suffer a bit for it, read: having to pose in a scuba diving suit that lets in zero point zero air in 35 degrees under the full sun. But the result was worth it all! It was such a joy to shoot with Marly that it didn't feel like work for a second. And how nice is it to have such beautiful photos with your best friend? We can later show Sammy-Rose that her mama and godmother looked quite appetizing once, a long time ago…
For years, I've been trying to secure a spot for the dinner on Vuurtoreneiland. An idyllic little island near Amsterdam, where there is no water or electricity, where fourteen sheep live, and where a beautiful glass greenhouse has been built where you are served the most delicious organic and seasonal dishes. Sounds almost too good to be true.
So when I received the dinner invite for the launch of Timberland Shoes that would take place on that beautiful little island, I didn't hesitate to RSVP! The hour-long trip there was already a party, where we enjoyed a snack and a drink while being presented with the colorful Timberland boot collection. When I set foot on the island, a sense of calm immediately washed over me, and the dinner was truly delightful. Praying that I secure a spot this year to share this experience with my husband: I at least already have the perfect boots in my pocket!
Despite applying factor 50 sunscreen, wearing huge hats, and mostly lying under the parasol, I still got quite tanned in Curaçao. In principle, that's great, but I notice that my skin could use a boost after all that sun. At Babassu, I had heard about the ‘Glycothreepeel’: a peel with a high percentage of glycolic acid that removes dead skin cells, stimulates cell renewal, and gives your skin a natural glow. Now, I've always been a bit wary of peels because they can sometimes cause damage by penetrating too deeply into the skin layers. But this peel has a special ‘buffer’ incorporated, which means it can never clean too deeply and affect the good cells. The result: a lovely ‘happy’ skin that feels nourished again. I've already scheduled a small treatment for the wedding!
Friday is the day: the second season of Zwarte Tulp will be available on Videoland! All binge-watch fans (a totally new term for me, but these are viewers who prefer to ‘watch’ all episodes back-to-back) can indulge in all twelve episodes full of suspense and excitement. On Monday, a real ‘Binge-watch Party’ was organized for the die-hard Tulp fans, so they could be the first to watch all the episodes non-stop. To surprise the fans, Roeland, Linda, Puck, and I traveled to Hilversum to wish them lots of fun. It was so nice to see that this group of people was such a fan of the series! Honestly, I can't wait to binge-watch the episodes myself, as I haven't seen any yet. This weekend, I’ll just lock myself in with a big tub of Ben & Jerry’s on the couch.
In the past few weeks, the makeup team of the series Brussels faced a huge challenge: for a flashback we were telling, I had to be bald… So they worked with two people for an hour to create a beautiful ‘bald head’ on me! I found it really fascinating to see how they created this: step 1 was a super thin cap over my head, which they had to cut and stick on perfectly to then color completely. Incredibly skilled! The end result looked so good that people were shocked when they saw me on set. But from now on, we will only shoot scenes with hair.
